Two different golf mk3 8v gti ecu's?
« on: 28 April 2017, 21:13 »
Hi all,

So I've got a loom from a local breaker and a ecu. The ecu wasn't from the same car and doesn't fit.

Is there a early and later ecu? The date on the ecu is 1992

Thanks

What cars, what engine codes?
The mk3 had 3 different 2.0l engines (4 if you include the 16v)......

What year is your car? The 2E (the first of the 2.0 8v engines) had two revisions as well.
There's a cut off in terms of engine number.

My bad sorry I was in a rush.

Engine is 8v agg

Been told the loom is from a later mk3 so I'm assuming it's agg.

Ecu has the date 1992 on it.

Annoyingly I fitted the complete loom before checking the ecu fitted as I never thought it would be problem.

What part number is on ECU?

2E was made up till (and incl) MY94, MY95 (and some MY96) had ADY, AGG cut in around summer 95 but some up to end of 96 were still ADY.

And now for the fun bit there were some changes made to most of these during production. Early 2Es had cold start valves etc.....
