Well after racking up nearly 1.5k miles in a fortnight I pulled into macdonalds  and burst a brake hose luckily I was round the corner from a reputable vw specialist so she is in there now have brand new lines through and braided hoses. Glad it did it then on not on the m6 on Saturday

Little update one of the former owners that I tracked down have sent me a few pictures of her when she was small bumper.

And tbh I prefer her as small bumper so I've picked up a set of bumpers. Just looking for a cl front splitter and small bumper arches. The full 90spec kit will be for sale soon for anyone interested all gen vw in good condition.

Also picked up a set of these.

Which soon looked like this.

And then looked like this.

And later looked like this, still not happy as has micro scratches catching light so more work needed. Once finished the not polished bits are being sprayed alpine white to match car. But so far I've put 12 hours into one wheel lol.

As always comments and criticism and suggestions always welcome

I always think that anything pre-90 looks better with small bumpers. For some reason the F plate doesn't sit right with big bumpers. But that's a personal preference.
Good work.

Re: Golf gt 16v (possible oetinger) 90 spec gone ****rust*****

Well after witnessing my beloved forest get humiliated yesterday by derby our bitter rivals I was in no mood to be around people so decided to spend some time on the golf.

I decided today was the day the 90 spec kit would be removed and rear bumper fitted.

Bumper removed and paint cleaned will need some fresh paint in next few weeks and bad areas ground down but quite happy with it for now.

Then I removed the rear arches which again there's minimal surface rust where the kit was fitted but overall I'm happy to give them a quick rub down in places paint and fit small bumper arches.

Unfortunately I wasn't so lucky with the fronts. Drivers side can be rescued.

Passenger is a lot worse so might get binned as I would like to know what the inner wings are like but that could be a can of worms I don't want to open lol so we will see I might just cut out the sh!t, as trim will be sat over it.

Trail fit of the estorils happy with how front sit, but will probably use a 10-15 mm spacer on the rears to fill arch a bit.

How she sits tonight looking all sorry for her self before I start getting rust sorted next week after work

Front bumper will be done once I source a decent one and as I found out today she's missing the lower metal panel so going to have to get one of them aswell.

One spanner in the works is I've found where the waters getting in my boot, got to find a reputable welder to cut this out and weld a plate in.

This is my rear inner arch god knows how it's rusted as the other side is spotless and no sines of broken under seal the other side

The rear end is bugging the hell out of me because of the rear valance, after studying around a 100 images of small bumper mk2s I'm thinking that's a replacement rear pannel. Poorly fitted so think 90spec is going back on to cover eyesore

Well took of advantage of the light nights to atack the car once again.

Arches and rear pannel after sanding and light repair work.

After a few coats of primer.

And after a few coats of alpine white

Overall quite happy with Finnish but have a few runs from rushing so will sand back in week and layer a few more coats on then lacquer, flat and polish and the. A quick coat of paint on calipers and new under seal under arches. They I can move to front.

Decide I'm keeping 90 spec trim but going for small bumpers. Like golf bellow
