Sounds a VERY good buy, provided the shell's solid.

Nice Northloop stickers - you should take it there fo sho.

R888s are mental - enjoy the noise and the sticky.  Medium compound are the ones you want.  See if you can pick up some lighter wheels though - those Compomotives are heavy as hell.

Now get saving for the buckets, cage and harnesses

All that sort of stuff can come next year mate. For now it'll do as is. May only plans are small bumpers and back to standard rear lights and a standard GTi grill. Oh and need to pick up some rims with road tyres. Do 14" GTi steels fit over these brakes?

you can drive to tracks with the r888s on. you'd have more fun on the way there too.

If Nick's using it on the road more than a little he might want some cheaper rubber to hose, especially in the wet!

Nick, there's lots of cheap 15" alloy wheels out there in 4X100 and a much better choice of cheap, good rubber in 195/50 R15.  I'd go 15" over 14".... (matron).

Yeah but I don't want to wear them more than I need to as I'm on a pretty tight budget. I've read up that they are also still very good once well past the legal limit so I can use them once illegal but will need road tyres to get to and from meets.

15s with proxes then, instead of wasting money on stickers.
