If I go any lower than 35-40mm, then the ARB with foul on the drive shaft and it's expense that can be avoided if I'm being sensible about it. In terms of budget, I could probably stretch to Eibach shocks as well if it's going to gain me anything, but if they're not absolutely necessary, I'm happy to stick with the factory fitted option -just so long as they're not going to wear out in super quick time!

All cars have an ARB Linz. If you go too low, it will foul the drive shaft. You can buy uprated ARB which give more clearance, but I've heard these can make the problem even worse

If you go to low it CAN rub the ARB but strangely not always

I just want the wheels to fit snuggly. Will a 30-35mm drop do the trick or will I wish I'd gone for coilovers afterall?

Really depends what you want, will you want to adjust it in the future?
