2.0 gti is not slow!
« on: 12 January 2010, 12:50 »
The other day (when the snow cleared) i took my car from a run around some of the country roads, i was out probably about an hour driving it fairly hard and although my car is the 2.0L 8v it still feels like it has alot of poke in it! I realy dont care what anyone says my car is not slow!  ye a 1.8T will be alot faster but while i was out on my drive i came across a 150brake gttdi and he could not get away from me, i was absolutely buzzing that i kept up around every strait, hair pin and s bend, could have even over taken a couple of times

Ive only lowered on springs by 50mm and have some pirreli P6000's but my car just handles brilliant and definitely has enough power to have a great time in

2.slow PRIDE!!!

ok from a standing start acceleration isnt the best but when its up to pace it does handle very well with the power output

I've owned a 2.slow - trust me, it was slow.

My wife has a 1.6 SE, and I would say that power wise, they were pretty much exactly the same.

I've got a 2.0 as well, hopefully will be making room for the R when I start my job in September.

I find the speed and acceleration ok, but nothing that great. I've had cars easily pull away from me, and not great cars either.

Oh dear . .

I also had a MK4 2.0 8v before the MK5 and they are slow gutless cars.

They are lovely motors and I loved mine to bits, but the minute you start thinking its a performance car is the minute you have the wrong end of the stick. Its a nice car with a nice spec, thats it.

I expect to soon see the following comments:

it wasn't a 150
he wasn't trying
he doesn't know how to drive

sorry to say fella a 150 tdi would leave you for dead - pickup out of the corners is immense thanks to all the torque

how do you know it was a 150 TDI?

Badge on the back  :lipsrsealed:

I've driven a couple of 2.0 and they make a very comfy GT car

A 150 TDI would waste you in 6th gear with 1/4 throttle

Enjoy your moment though
