Oak Green MK2 16v - RIP - Rest in Pieces
« on: 17 April 2013, 21:47 »
A few of you might recognise this motor. I had it a few years back where it made 128bhp on JKM's dyno  Good ol' TSR.

Now it's been fixed and tuned properly now its pushing out what it should have been :afro:

The story behind this goes, mate bought it, spent a fair wack of money, needed to get rid of it, I picked it up, sold it to another mate, I regretted it for 2 years, bought it back.

It does need a bit of work done to it. I'll be documenting the journey from now until I have finished it.

To Do List:
-Fix Speedo (Done 23/04/2013)
-Respray Fan Cowling (Done 21/04/2013)
-Replace Bumper Indicators (Done 21/04/2013)
-Genuine Red Strip Quad Grill (Done 01/05/2013)
-Rear 16v Badge (Done 03/05/2013)
-Side 16v Badges (Buy from HERE)
-Replace Aerial (Done 03/05/2013)

-Coilovers - APs (From Dan_apps)
-Jetex Exhaust System (Buy from HERE)
-Front Spliter (Done 11/05/2013)
-Rear Window Vinyl
-New Rear Window (Current one is scratched)

-Spark Plug Change
-All Filters

-Possible ABF?

Speedo

So started this morning at the long list I need to get through. First on the list was finding as to why the speedo wasn't working.

My theory to start at the source paid off. It was looking right at me. The drive unit wasn't attached

When I slowly pulled it out with the fear of the cog dropping into the gearbox, the inevitable happened and the f**king thing dropped into the depths of the box. Balls! I can just about see the bottom of it so need to get some very long nosed pliers to grab it.

Popped to halfords and got the grabber. What a life saver! Although it took some patience to get the bloody thing out. But alas got the bad boy.

All Sorted now. Fitting it was a ball of a job. Getting it just right and enough to get the bolt in took a bit of fiddling. Glad I now have a speedo. Next up is the grill.

I regretted selling it. Hence why it's back.

Shame! I want those wheels!

Very rare wheel. Worth a pretty penny aswell.

Nice to see a Mk2 on here (too many Mk4s  ), looks alright too.

:afro: That there is, that there is.

Looks a good project

Long old project. Anyone know of 'laid up' insurance?

What you do with the MK5?

Got bored of it...
