The good old water pump
« on: 26 January 2020, 14:10 »
Recently broke down with it all starting with acc warning light followed by esc abs tyre monitoring abs airbag etc etc everything. Anyway rac came out and said canbus fault, being in the trade I just wanted it recovering to my work. Plugged in pedal fault / throttle body, the pedal had lost one of its 5v feeds and we worked out it was the throttle body creating a short. New throttle body fitted happy days, well so I thought. Ten miles down road bang lit up like a Christmas tree again, new fault coolant flow and short circuit and ecu fault. Tested coolant solenoid and associated wiring all good, had a quick look at water pump and stat housing and found small amount of coolant on module on stat housing. Stripped it all down to find multiplug has water ingress and when module opened up full of coolant.
New pump and housing coming mon so we will see if it cures the issue.
Just a quick heads up, u don't need to take the inlet manifold off to do this job, it is easier than a lot of people say, can be done all from the top with no special tools.
