« on: 02 May 2003, 13:21 »
Hello,

I have just purchased a GOLF GTI 8v and i love it... its mint... got some coin to spend on it so i wanted some adivce on air filters... i know the K&Ns have a nice hissing sound and i would'nt mind 1 of them.

Does any 1 have any adivce?

Cheers

hello there try this and see what you think.

take out your air box quite straight forward few bungees an electrical conection and rubber pipe that goes to the throttle body(top/back off your engine).

unclip the cover on the top of the airbox to get to your air filter remove the air filter so your left with just the base.

in the bottom of the air box theres a cone trumpet shape piece of plastic, take it out with the aid of a hammer . leave it out and replace the air box

you can leave the standard filter in just to see what you think of the noise if you like it get a replacement k&n panel filter if you want more noise get a roar pipe

you should get a suttle somtimes loud roar personally i prefer this to the induction kit as the induction kit is loud all the time at least this way you can try it with out it costing much and if you dont like it you go the full hog and get a induction kit..

     Cheers....
