Sliding back end
« on: 28 November 2017, 22:32 »
Anyone experience their gti mk6 sliding out on tight corners? Happened a few times now on left and right handers on country roads - treads are good - could be late braking but wondered if the ESP being on/off helps

Not experienced this. Under normal driving the suspension is set up for the front end to go first as it is assumed that this is easier to control by lifting off and is why tyre fitters will often put new tyres on the rear so the front goes first. ESP on reduces the skid/slide risk but if you are pushing it then road and front and rear tyre conditions and pressures will play a part. There is also a minimum speed when the systems operate.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.
