The wife had a mini and i have had a gtd mk7 and now a mk7 gti, i think its the throttle response or lack of it, from memory the mini felt like a go kart and was very responsive but the gtd/gti does have a very relaxed  accelerator pedal which does not respond well to a light foot...check out pedal box...i think this may be your answer.

I was also thinking the dead accelerator was a suspect here therefore ge pedal box would help...

Well worth the money and you’ll end up feeling ‘this is how it should of come out of the factory’.

That’s their tuning box - depends if you want to go down the tuning route to get more power, and then if you decide you do need more power, there are a fair few products/routes to navigate.

I’ve never felt the need for more power, but couldn’t live with the accelerator.

Or you could go for both!

No, the post you linked to is the tuning box, is an increase in power.  The pedal box does not increase power output but does sharpen throttle pedal response which may address some of your concerns.
