Oil Seeping Up Through The Breather
« on: 16 May 2017, 12:24 »
Hi all,

Driving a 91 Mk2 Golf GL 1.8 carb.

I'm starting to regularly see oil seep up through the oil breather off the cylinder head cover and into the air intake box where the air filter sits. If I take off the air intake arm and take the air filter out, it tends to be a little wet in there from the oil.

Now it's not horrifically bad, but it's something i'd like to clear up. I do tend to give the engine bay a quick once over monthly, so cleaning out the air filter box isn't that much of a problem.

My question is, does anyone recommend any of those small oil breathers that clip onto the oil breather pipe, or how about feeding a longish pipe out from the oil breather and down out through the bottom of the engine bay (as recommended by an RAC man way back).

Thanks!

Just measure the size of breather 20mm if memory serves correct and get the right size fittings on the catch can aswell
