Alternator

Just replaced the Oil Cooler and then the car wouldn't start.

Jump start ok, and tested the alternator which isn't giving out juice.

Which alternator do I need for a 1990 mk2 golf GTi 8v?

Anyone had any luck with refurbished ones?

I had mine refurbished - only cost around £30 and the work was done there and then, that way you get to keep your original Bosch genuine alternator. These things are built to be refurbished, it's a false economy buying a brand new one unless you are replacing it with a genuine item.

Don't know where you're located but I'm in Redditch and I go to auto electrics by the firestation for all my electrical issues.

Hi,

I have just installed one of these from ebay,
Alternator For VW Scirocco Caddy 1.6 1.8 90A Single Rib 1984-1992

Not the cheapest but it gives a few extra AMPS for the extras that tend to find there way onto the car.
