Hi Thai! I've also jumped from the mk3 forum to mk4, is it rude to ask how much all that work cost? It's a great job!

Blimey it's been a while and this thread completely slipped my mind but I'm not surprised really considering the stress this friggin car has been causing me recently.

Anyway, what with work and family commitments I've done more parts hoarding than actual fitting over the past few months including :

312mm front brakes & new Pagid pads
Koni STR.T suspension kit
Upgraded SMIC
1.8T pancake pipe
Blacksmoke 180bhp mapped ECU
Bora Sport clocks
Chrome headlight switch ring
Chrome knob wing mirror switch

A few little bits have been carried out inside though and fitted brand genuine inner door handles all round, ashtray cover, OBD cover which all really tidied things up.
I sourced another better condition leather steering wheel and airbag, my old airbag in particular was looking very ropey.

Next up brings the infuriating problems I've discovered in my short ownership...

Since ive had it it's basically been crap on fuel, not always but generally pretty damn poor for a derv. The coolant temperature sensor was replaced which cured the none moving temp gauge eventually after much fiddling  but no real mpg gains.
I've run diesel purge through the system and nowt really. The EGR was inspected and it was shocked at how clean it actually was so i could rule that out.
I did find a small oil drip from my lower intercooler pipe was was due to a suspect clip and dislodged connection which was easily resolved - gain no real improvement apart from less oil spilt outside my front door.
Next stop will be to change the thermostat, it does warm up and the gauge sits bang in the middle once there but i've noticed that occasionally when cruising down hill or on the motorway the needle will drop slightly which would suggest the thermostat is weeping slightly allowing it to overcool.

I have the common mk4 clunking over small bumps in the road caused by either worn ARB bushes and/or drop links, I'll replace both when i fit the suspension kit.

And finally the biggest bain of my life right now is the fvcking clutch and dual mass flywheel. A couple of weeks ago my clutch master cylinder failed giving me about an inch of pedal travel to use.
I had planned to fit the new one myself but found myself too busy plus I thought it'd make sense to get the clutch and DMF done at the same time that way i knew it'd be sound when it came to installing the remapped ECU.
So a local VAG specialist was enlisted for the labour duties whilst i sourced all the parts required as cheaply as possible. This included a Sachs master cylinder from our own BoneyBradley on here (great service and price), a Sachs clutch kit & DMF from a car that had apparently snapped it's cambelt and had only covered 5k. Yes i know this was a gamble and but funds were bloody tight so took the punt and the guy seemed very genuine and informative.
Well, that was fitted last Thursday and all was great with very smooth gearchanges. The engine felt more responsive and im was happy with the service i received from the garage.
Fast forward to two days ago and im not happy anymore as ive now got increased engine noise ie diesel clatter and mildly increased cabin vibration.

Now im just hoping for the best that it's not the DMF as this will cost me dearly to have it back in the garage for a new replacement.

After some heavy reading into it im toying with various ideas and resolves, some point to the timing, dogbone mount, fueling (i've just changed to Shell V-Power nitro instead of my usual Morrisons crap to see if it improves), some even say the MAF which tbh might explain my inconsistent and poor mpg?

Brand new Bosch MAF fitted this evening with bugger all effect.
Genuine VW dogbone mount in the post...

Anyone reckon I should be looking at the injectors or loom next to cure this mildly rough running?

What other sensors can I replace anyway?

Injector looms well worth doing on older or higher miles cars anyway. Is a VAGCOM method of testing it I think.

Yeah I think i'll get one ordered at the end of the week as I've no record of it been changed anyway and it does sound very common.

Definitely, it bumped the Passat up from 37 to 48MPG. It's an auto so not amazing on fuel anyway.
