Kenwood not powering up
« on: 09 November 2007, 19:52 »
Just wondering if the experts could give me some advise.  I have done a search and checked through the posts but could only find info about swapping the yellow and red wires around, as the Kenwood manual advised, but still no joy.

I bought a Kenwood KDC-W6027 for my Mark II GTI about 3 year ago but never did get round to installing it. I now have a Golf Driver '91, i tried installing the stereo (straight out the box) but it is not powering on.

When i first connect it up i can hear there is power going to it, but nothing happens, no lights , no sound etc.  WHen i press the reset button i can hear the noise again.  Is there something i am missing out.  I check the fuse on the head unit, but it is fine.  My mum owned the car before me and i know she had a stereo in it and worked fine.

Could anyone advise what could be wrong and what i should check?  It's straight out the box so it surely cant be dead.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Try using a multimeter to see what voltage is reaching your HU
