Front seats Tools required
1 x flat head screwdriver
1 x Philips screwdriver
1 x 10mm socket
1 x 13mm socket
1 x 17mm socket
VERY IMPORTANT!
First disconnect the negative terminal from the battery using the 10mm socket and go make yourself a cup of tea -
This will decrease the chance of the airbag deploying and stop any warning lights / fault codes being thrown up
Start by pushing the seat about halfway forward to expose the plastic runner in the rear footwell and remove the plastic caps
Undo the screws and remove the plastic runners
Then look under the front of the seat and you'll see this
Use the 13mm socket to remove the nuts on each side
SLide the seat all the way back and it should now be free from the runners
Tilt the seat back and look for the airbag connections (if you got heated seats you'll probably have another connection) also check the airbag connectors are the same - i have read but cannot confirm that the airbag connectors do differ from one year to another so double check
Disconnect the yellow airbag connection
Remove seat from car
Fitting is reversal of removal - dont forget to reconnect the battery
Removing and replacing both front seats should take approx 30 minutes (not including making yourself a cuppa after disconnecting the battery!)
Rear seats Pull up the bottom part of the seat and fold foward to expose the hinges
Simply push the hinge in to release from the hook
The fold forward the back part of the seat to expose the hinge in the corner
Use the flathead screwdrive to lever under the clasp and push towards the back of the car to release the seat
Then simply lift and pull the seat towards you to release it off the hinge in the middle
If you have seats with a 3 point seatbelt for the middle you need to undo the 17mm bolt underneath the seat
The process is the same for both sides
Hope this of some use
I and GolfGti.co.uk accept no respsonsibilty should anything go wrong like your airbag deploying etc or you break something
You carry out this procedure at your own risk
