Title: ABS fault now Traction control
Post by: smallzoo on 27 February 2021, 09:08
I bought a 2002 Gti a few months ago. Drives well then about 3 weeks ago the ABS light came on. Went to one garage they plugged it in and said ABS pump fault so needs replacing ..mega expensive.

I decided to find someone else, they said yes it said ABS fault but they replaced the fuse box above the battery ant it went away. They said they had seen that before so cost me £25+labour

All great for about 2 weeks now the ABS light is not on but the traction control light instead

Any ideas ?

Wish I knew someone who was a golf gti expert in and around Sandbach , Cheshire ?

Are your brake lights working?...

Richw911 is on the right track. It seems the MK4 has some strange warning light systems...my ABS light came on, quite a while back and it turned out to be the brake light switch, just above the pedal. You could do a search and find my post, if you like...maybe 3 years ago.

Hope that will help you.

Same here. I recall it's a fiddly fix. Buy genuine
