Wax Advice
« on: 25 September 2008, 01:56 »
Hi all,

been looking at the forum for a few months now (first post though) and after some basic wash/polish/wax,  I've now been bitten by the bug

Just been online and bought a few things.

Some MF applictors and towels,
Meguiars Gold Shampoo,
Meguiars Smooth surface Claybar kit,
Poorboys Pro Polish,
Meguiars Hot Rims.
(Already have the sheeps wool mitt and some AG extra gloss sealant)

But could not decide what wax  So looking for some pointers / advice on the following,

Collinite 476s Paste Wax,
Poorboy's Nattys Paste Wax,
and
Dodo Juice Rainforest Rub

tried and tested info would be best, but to be honest just looking for a wax that gives a good finish and last 6+ weeks.

cheers

PS. Does the Collinite stuff have any of that Carnauba Magic?

Does it have to be a wax? I use a sealant, Zaino Z2 using ZFX to cure it faster, then top up with Zaino Z8 after each wash. Fantastic results, easy on/off unlike a wax

Look here if you need more info

I tried it once, and its now my fav product, overtaking £50 a tub Zymol Carbon Wax

I think it is silicone based.

Well, I've been looking about this forum and a bit on DW and decided to go for none of the ones I mentioned.

I've gone for Collinite #915.

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=26&products_id=402

Seems to get a good write up, long lasting, good results etc

Should be with me tomorrow, happy days

hmm, im not keen on using silicone based as dad always complains about it when we're spraying a car it makes it difficult to get it all off and get a perfect finish...

Nothing in your quote would confirm (or deny) the presence of silicones.

entering this search into google does not help either - silicone site:zainostore.com

If you are worried email or phone them.

A lot of experts rave about this stuff

To be honest not worried about it as not going to be using it

but would have been nice to clear it up.

Just thought that, they were indicating that it was silicone based by saying it was "synthetic polymeric based" but chemistry was never a stong point
