Title: Anniversary Wheels - FITTED PG 19
Post by: Rhyso on 04 February 2009, 13:54
as per the question above

sadly due to low stocks the gunmetal diamond turn annis are no longer available so i either plump for the normal Gunmetal as seen here

http://www.dropshots.com/motormadj#albums/Gunmetal%20Grey%20Anni%27s/2008-08-08/16:38:17

or i do quite fancy some LM Reps as from here
http://www.bmautosport.co.uk/detail.php?siteid=1120

get voting please

alternatively point me in the direction of some more uber cheap anni wheels

TBH I would avoid replicas especially LMs, personally i'd save or steal the money and get real ones.

Back to the question in hand, I had always fancied LMs but was disappointed when i saw them in the flesh, I think the look small and you really have to have the car low, for them to look right, at which point I don't think they would suit yours on a 30mm drop

In terms of cheap rims, i think you're really looking at replicas, which again are going to be heavier than the real thing, unless you can find some geniune rims going cheap on flea bay.

In terms of alternatives R32s (MKIV or MKV) or A4s

but if i was you i'd wait for the gun metal RCs

only the normal gunmetal RC's are available from motormadj  do you think they look good and or suit my car?  :undecided:

been speaking to Matt-Gti (Rich's mate -doesn't visit here often anymore) and he says that a few people with BMW's and Mercs are trying them and love them! performance wise they rate them very close to Michelins and Goodyears but at a fraction of the price.  don't have the outright grip and peformance but then they are half the price

worth a punt at that price IMO

(dons flak jacket to previous posts made about tyres and price )

That does sound promising. I need some rubber for my annis, and at 400 for f1's these at almost half the price could just be the alternative I can afford

that's what i was thinking, original finish would be sweet, but you would have to spend a fortune on protecting them.

i'd be surprised if those go for less than £900

How many coats you going to put on mate? Need to do this to mine before getting my tyres. Think i'm going to go for some falkens as well. Can't really beat that price for a good reviewed tyre.

yeah been lookin at these, do you think it will be safe to use, eg- wont mark them??

also id recomend some copper slip on the underside of the caps where it meets the wheel just so they dont stick on!

i noticed some corosion marks on the underside of my caps ( original untreated), did you? nothing major and i know you dont see it but i dont want it to spread and eventually go onto the outside under the paint... gonna  get my sander out and sand them off to be safe and paint the underside of the caps

Very nice mate, very nice!

You'll like the tyres, they've very good.  BUT, they take longer than I expected to bed in, about 500 miles I'd say.  And then when you go out, fro cold they can slide a bit until you've warmed them up a bit.  But for the money I was severely impressed!

If I had those wheels arrive today, the first thing I'd think is "Imagine when they get their first bit of curbing ".

i thought all the eibach pro spring kits were 30-70mm depending on the car (original suspension) NB -30 over a 1.8T (non anni) / TDI 150

saying that it's a different kit for the DERVs, but still meant to lower by the same amount.

yeah its a bit of a strange one think it may differ between cars, i know rhys's Golf looked lower at the front with the 16's on compared to mine but i think his engine is heavier but ill see how mine looks in a couple of weeks and then if im not happy might consider collies but that will be a pain considerign ive only had the springs 3 months lol
