bizzler'z mk2 Oak Green 16V
« on: 26 November 2012, 20:55 »
im making this on behalf of him as his lazy (very busy)
anyway we picked this up from brighton, we left at 6am on a sunday morning.
anway il let the pics do the talking:

he wanted me to photoshop his head lights:

took the rear brakes of as they was seized.
the piston would not budge. i took it to work & stuck it in the deruster. got the piston to move then unscrewed it out.

thought id do him a favour by refurbing his calipers. i acid dipped them then zinc plated them:

these were ALOT worse then what they look like:

left them in the deruster for 4 hours.

going in the zinc bath (took 5 hours to plate.

i need to get a final picture of them fully plated.
still got the front caipers to do.
he will be painting them in red with caliper paint.
his going to be ordering the rebuild kit from bigg red & rebuild them back up.

More to come

Comments welcome

Love a nice Oaky!

Must admit I wouldn't bother rebuilding Mk2 rear calipers though, as they'll only seize again soon.  Mk4's with conversion hoses are the way ahead, transformed my braking efficiency no end.

thanks lewy for that info. The plating didnt cost him anything just the rebuild kit. We are going to see how the rebuild goes & take it from there.
I also forgot to mention that it has a TRW exhaust manifold, a momo wheel.
Oh & it goes like stink! Lol
the head has been rebuilt at some stage.
He got tons of recipts with it
he got a dyno print frm awesome (i think) 141 or 147 horses.
His going to change the indicators in the wing as they are loose (broken tabs).
Smoked the headlights or replace them
yellow tint or lamin-x the fogs (just like in the picture)
so loads more to come

his got the rebuild kit so wer going to get the brakes put back together & see how it goes from there. if we need we will take your advise with the mk4's conversion.

his drivers window is playing up (dont go down more then a finger gap) so going to strip that down and see what we discover.
his door cards are sagging at the bottom (apparently water has got to it so they need removing & refurbing or replacing (3dr rainbow interior) so if anyone has any laid about & are happy to sell them please give me a buzz or pm.

as i said in my previous post that i will upload pictures of the plated calipers. bizzle sent me picture via email.
so here they are:

the inside bore very smooth along with other bits for the caliper:

plated calipers:

the handbrake lever pleated:

(bizzle will give these a good rub down to get rid of the pitting) caliper pistons:

bigg reds rebuild seals:

the seals + plated calipers:

i still got the front calipers to do yet.
& also bizzle will be replacing the rubber brake hoses with braided lines.

underneath the car is mint & hopefully he will be putting more underseal on to protect it for the future.
sometime the car will have a full respray or a good blow over as there are few paint problems (it is a 22year old car).

more updates to come soon...
