GTI performance dsg problem
« on: 14 September 2019, 16:17 »
For the last few month I've noticed a slight grinding noise in 2nd gear when in traffic or driving around a car park at say 5-10 mph. Over the last few weeks it's got worse and I'm now getting the odd clunk when coming off the throttle in 2nd gear.

Finally got around to calling in at vw to ask a tech if this was normal as I've not had a dsg before. As soon as he heard it he said I needed to get it booked in for investigation.

VW had the car yesterday and after a test drive and a few messages back and forth with VW head office theyve told me there is a serious issue with the gearbox and they are going to need the car for a week to remedy the problem.
The senior tech believes it's the mechatronic that is at fault but vw wont allow him to progress until he does a 24 hour battery disconnect. (He doesn't think this will fix it).

Has anyone else had or noticed a similar issue and did it get fixed quickly.  Car is 8 month old with 7000 miles and is the dq381 7 speed gb

Yep, I’ve got slight similar symptoms. Same car and mileage. I’ve just put it down to how the box is as it’s my first DSG.
Only notice it when pussyfooting around town!
I do hear faint clunks from 2 gear engaging just sometimes. Wouldn’t have bothered me but now interested to hear other user experiences.

Nothing here yet, but 6 months and 3.5K miles. Hopefully, this is not a thing!

I'll keep updating the thread as and when they tell me what the solution is. Not booked in until the 24th though.

Did any of you have pedal boxes installed and does anyone think that would have an effect, i pick up my new GTI PP DSG on Sunday and i was planning on fitting my pedal box from my MK 7 manual GTI

I gave the pedal box off my Mk7 to my son for his old Audi 1.6 so no pedalbox on my new DSG car.

Can’t think how a pedal box would have any effect.

Nope never had a pedal box or any other mod fitter for that matter. Totally standard which I'm glad about as I dont want them having anything to pass the blame.
