Standard Exhaust Noise - New GTI
« on: 04 March 2019, 15:24 »
I've seen a few 19 plate GTIs driving around now and....wow...is the exhaust noise improved or what? They all had a lovely deep burble a bit like an Audi S3, but if anything even louder. Well done VW for making them sound more sporty, however they've done it. Is it a new system or just software induced?
I've also seen a couple of 19 plate Rs and they also sounded really meaty (could have had the Akrapovic option fitted I guess).

My 2018 245 Performance model sounds so much deeper than my 2017 230 std GTI did. No DSG farts but a much nicer sound.

I agree, mine sounds so much more raucous & angry compared to my brothers 2015 GTI.

I've been very impressed with how the exhaust note has increased with the more miles I've put on it (now at 1350m). Also, now it's been fully flushed and used to 99RON it also rumbles nicely on the overrun.

It's still not stopping my from looking at Akrapovic's though...

The very reason why I haven't bought a 7.5 Performance

Maybe a GTE or E-Golf next then?

It's louder but not loud. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

Maybe a used 7.5 standard GTI. Test drove a 7.5 Performance - I do a lot of miles and wouldn't be able to stand that 'drone' for long. Understand that others like though - I'm just getting too old for all that

The 'drone' goes when in comfort mode. I do a lot of miles in mine and I certainly don't notice it. :)

I'm pretty sure I tried all 'modes' but I may just have another go if that is the case, thanks

I have a res delete on mine as well and no problem on long journeys. And sounds great when you drive like a GTI.

What is a 'res delete'?
