Leather trim in my golf is crap
« on: 16 December 2007, 09:22 »
I have found that the leather on my door cards are very crudely secured and just peel off.  The driver's side rear trim has totally come away along the top edge.  I've tried to push it back in and after looking straight for a while it just comes off.  The rest of the cards also have similar issues with this trim.

The most baffling thing however, is that underneath the leather trim it appears that there's a nice black cloth trim.  Now I don't know if this is just normal or has this car been recovered with leather at some time in its life.  My car is a 99T, 1.8T, with the winter pack, so the front seats have heated function.  Another odd thing is that the seats don't have the 'RECARO' imprint on the front seats, although they look identical to the ones that do.
Turbocharged and liking it...

sounds like its been (badly) retrimmed.  Not all leather interiors are recarro's though.  I think it was an option for a fairly limited time.
