Oil on the Flywheel
« on: 01 November 2007, 11:47 »
When changing my clutch the mechanic found some oil on the flywheel.  He said that is looks fine but is asking me if I want to still change it.  He also says that apparantly the flywheels have oil inside them.

Does the oil indicate that the flywheel is knackered and needs replacing.

when there is oil on the fly it will make it slip.  you just replace it.  You can clean it but it is never the same.

I got both the flywheel and clutch replaced at a total cost of £470 including labour.  He showed me the oil leakage and it was just coming from inside the flywheel.  It was just seeping out so I didn't suspect oil coming from anywhere else.

The car's driving great now, biting point is low and acceleration perfect.
