Boost surge
« on: 25 July 2007, 13:37 »
Hey Guys,

Howsit?

Just got my first Euro car and of course its a MK4 GTI Turbo, such a nice car and man is it fun to drive, ive had it about a month and have sort of had this problem i noticed after buying it, the car is mint but it seems to be cutting boost or surging i think thats the right word. Anyway took in in for a full service and the Dealer couldnt figure out the problem and its easily noticable when your looking for it. Even at low revs the boost spikes then drops constantly if you floor it from 2500rpm to 4000rpm it will spike and drop repeatedly like 4-5 times, it not running high boost or anything as the car is factory. Any ideas as the dealer cant sort it and ive had a look through previous posts but cant find anyting related. Id really appreicate it if someone could point me in the right direction, maybe to check for a fews things like vacum leak etc... as this is a little different from my previous turbo skyline and i dont really want to stuff anything up.

Cheers
AJ

checked your hoses? best best is to get some silicone ones as if you got a split hose it'l leak boost and it'l do what it sounds like its doing
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

Try & clean the MAF sensor up - If that doesn't work & the hoses look ok, then it's an easy DIY replacement. :afro:
