New Car December 18 or January 19?
« on: 12 December 2018, 19:54 »
Ordered 5dr manual GTI isaac blue on 7/10.
Seems I got lucky in avoiding wltp shenanigans as car now 5c on tracker and dealer tells me will be available this month- he’s keen for me to take early, presumably to hit sales targets.
Only reason not to take is to register as 2019 car, rather than December 18.
Question is, would that make a difference to resale- is a car registered 21/12/18 worth less than one registered 2/1/19?
Would appreciate any advice.

Take the car when it comes. It won't make a jot of difference.

It won't matter that much to start with, and it will make even less difference the longer you keep it.

Either way, you're taking delivery in winter in the crap weather.

Who takes any notice of that? A 19 plate vs a 68 plate would make a bit of a difference, not December vs January. Get your car and do what you bought it for - drive it!

Yeah I’m inclined to just take it, even if late in the month. I suppose the December v January issue is more that it’ be a 2018 rather than 2019 car, probably just for the sake of a few days

It might be registered in 2019 but it's still a 68 plate car.

^^^^^ This

Get the car in your possession as soon as you can and just enjoy it. The difference in value will be next to nothing.

Thanks for replies, chaps. You’ve convinced me.
Expect car will be in UK this morning, I’ll email dealer to let him know i’ll take this month.
He said it may be “between Christmas and new year “, so I may suggest I’ll only take if this side of Christmas- I don’t know if they may be able to expedite if there’s an incentive
