I have just bought from Germany a set of Beautiful Mk2 Edition One Recaro's with a rear bench with very rare headrests.

But the rear bench back cardboard has seen better days and needs replacing does any one have an tips on how to strip the back of the rear bench without me knackering it.

I have a spare rear bench at home so sourcing one is not a problem...

Thanks in advance...

its dead easy really, if you look at the backrest release clips they pop onto the release hooks, to remove these., then the guide slieves come out.  then its just a case of unclipping the fabric all the way round, its just kinda hooked over the frame then tucked in around the edges of the card bit, you'll see what i mean. then the fabric an foam comes forward and you can pull out the backing card :)

Or you could cover it with carpet like this,

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Quite like the idea of that. I took mine off and resprayed it but its got loads of scratches in it again now.

Did you just spray mount the carpet to the back board?

I didn't need any glue, it was a tight fit held in by the fabric around the edges and the vertical metal bars.

It finishes the boot of nicely, especially as I had turret carpets and bought a rear panel carpet from Newton Commercial.

Just done mine tonight... Looks great..

Will take some pics and do a how to sheet tomorrow but its pretty easy to do - just time consuming... so you don't rip or tear the seat upholstery... I think it could be done without having to strip the seat... But would have to try it first..

Was thinking about selling the carpet pre-cut and ready to fit... as I had to buy a massive amount of carpet to get some...
