Creaking Suspenion
« on: 16 November 2018, 22:08 »
Has anyone else had creaking noises from their suspension?

The right rear creaks when driving over speed bumps. The car has DCC fitted and it’s more noticeable in comfort mode.

Planning on taking it to the dealer but wanted to check if others have experienced this in case I get the “they all do that” response.

Been a tpi out for a long time regarding greasing of suspension bushes. Early Mk7s had leaking rear shocks.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

Same as what mcmaddy has said really, nothing to worry about. Just take it into VW.

I have the same issue on my rear shocks and my dealer dismissed it.

It is now out of used car warranty, so I am thinking of fitting a pair of Bilsteins on it, there's a few threads about them on here curing the problems. However with DCC it is more involved, but then I don't have that.

I was googling the other day and found this website

Hi, My creaking got worse last couple of weeks. I looked at the suspension components and where I could see where they pivoted front and rear I sprayed with Silicon.

Result is no more creaking. I suspect it will be a temporary fix but if it works for a while then at least I know how to resolve.

If I didn't have DCC I'd be running with the Bilstein B12 kit. I had to replace one of my shocks a couple of months ago because it was leaking.

Are Bilstein B4s the cheapest OEM substitute still?

Only had mine just over 2 weeks, car has the Das welt warranty (2014 model)   took into dealers last week and they couldn’t find anything, rattles aren’t covered though - seems worse when cold or 1st thing in morning - oh and a £65 diagnostic charge for the pleasure - however the supplying dealer kindly paid that.
Never had a car that has rattled so much from rear - we do live down at the end of an old concrete lane that’s pretty poor but my wife’s and daughters cars are nice & quiet  - even my old Jeep Patriot wasn’t this bad.
Do the bilsteins make a massive difference?
Cheers

Phil

Hi Phil,

I believe they do, at least this guy thinks so, eliminates the problem entirely.
