How to: Install the ebay heated seat loom Golf MK4
« on: 08 December 2013, 22:20 »
Hey guys, a few people asked me to get a writeup on how I fitted my heated seat loom I got for a great price of £39.99 from a very helpful chap called "busboyk" on ebay. (I will point him towards this writeup in case he wants to add any information).

Anyhoo hope you like it, any comments, questions as always are always welcome. :)

I've got this loom and the only thing I want to know is which wires connect to which terminal underneath the seat.

I see you said you bought the connectors but I need to know where the two small wires and two large wires go to.

They should only connect to the terminals that the spades will fit on or another way to look at it is to follow step 5, the connectors on the seats, will have numbers at each terminal, when you look at them and compire to step 5 it should all make perfect sense :)

My problem is that the terminals under the seat are not numbered. And there's 2 small and 2 larger connections so there's a couple of combinations to do.

However, I've been told that I could damage the temp. Sensor in the seats if I get them mixed up

No, the green socket under the seat that the plug would connect into. It has 4 terminals in total. 2 are small, 2 are large. The spade connectors on this loom connect to them, but I'm unsure which wire goes to which terminal. I either need the plugs to connect them to the wires or I need to know which wire goes where

Not 100% sure on that one bud, but the loom should of only been supplyed with the ammount of wires to only fit the green connector block if that makes sense?

What I would do is use the diagram in step 5 and try to mirror the numbered locations having a quick look myself seems to suggest the below, however Do not quote me on it :)

That's what I assumed, just wanted to check to see if it's right, I've tried all the combinations now anyway so I hope it hasn't damaged them.

I haven't tried your way of doing it yet though, i connected the perm. Live to the radio and switched live to the horn behind the fuse box, seats didn't get hot and the car didn't start a couple of times depending on which combo the wires were under the seat. It's earthed properly.

I'll try tomorrow, hopefully sort it doing it your way.

Cheers for that drawing
