Mk6 price drop???
« on: 12 June 2013, 20:13 »
Hi All.
I am looking at purchasing a mk6 gti but think they are too much money for what they are. Will they drop in price when the mk7 gti hits the streets and any idea how much by? Thanks

They are unlikely to drop much at all, its not as if the market is going to be flodded with mk7 gti's..........

Mk6 gti 3dr with acc and dynaudio. Not bothered about sat nav or monzas. Talking £15000 for that with 45000k on the clock. My mate thinks I'm mad paying that for a gti he says he a BMW 335 but I just don't like bmws. What you reakon pal? Who makes up the prices for used cars?

I got my Mk6 59 plate GTI 3 door - carbon steel grey - 46k on the clock - leathers, 18's full parking sensors front and rear and other bits...

got it 2 months ago - what i think is a bargain for £13,250 - from JTC600 - i think they under priced and didnt realise.

I also think the MK6 will stay high priced for a while as it a great car - near perfect hot hatch, and MK7 will be expensive for a while

good luck

You are going to really struggle to find one with ACC and Dynaudio are these essential items?

That sounded like a very cheap car and not likely to come up again sometime soon, we do get the odd car we sell at a loss just to get rid of but they often aren't the nicest cars.

High spec GTI's could go for 33k + new.

15k probably gets you a reasonable E46 M3...but not everyone wants to live with those running costs and maybe some BM's have a Douche image association.

The GTI excels because it does just about everything well and is easy enough to live with.

I think you should go for the Sat Nav over ACC as this will be more appealing when you come to sell and easier to find imo.

considering mk5 gti's are still selling for around £8k-£10k, I doubt the mk6 will see a price drop any time soon.

Come on, unless you are over 45, there is no need for ACC, people say the sports mode is the normal mode without ACC and comfort mode is just for long journeys or bumpy roads.

They have great seats, so long journeys is no problem and if you have a ton of bumpy roads in your area get 17" wheels or 45 tyres......

Like above, money spent on SatNav, xenons or leathers is better choice. I cant see a good GTI under 50k miles going for under £14,000.....unless its a steal or get lucky like me.

But seriously mate, worth every penny. I love my GTI and so do all my mates and work colleagues. BUY ONE !!!!!

+1

The mk6 is still a great car and should hold its value well.   The similarity looks wise with the mk7 means it won't look the mk6 'dated'.

Yeah thanks for all the replys. Test drove a mk5 gti then jumped straight into the mk6 gti, the mk6 is 10x the car. The mk5 is not worth 9/10 k when you can buy a mk6 for 14k. Think I might just get one, but looking at finance and its like 370 a month for 4 years, which isa fair bit. What's re the problems to look out for on a mk6 gti?
