Ecu /idle command
« on: 11 July 2017, 21:09 »
Right I bought the mk4 aum 1.8T 3 door black. It's mint stock /I like them them the way they rolled off the German production line  /in Germany 🇩🇪 on German concrete/
Any way it's sounds like I have a marble rolling around in the off side rear wheel area. Haven't had a chance to get my head in a had a spy around. Any one have any idea.  Also  when I start the castle the idle sits slightly high for a few seconds then drops back to normal I just let it drop down back to normal befor I set off.
Do you think it could be either mapped and the ecu is regaristing the command from the map /or could the ecu be standard and just reading the command as normal and doing wat it always dose. Its AUM stock I think lol as it's my fist mk4 gti

Really hope somone can hoy a few pointers my way like.
A geordie in Manchester yes haaa

Mine idles high on initial startup but usually only in the cold weather. Have you tried a VCDS scan?

No scans made yet. I could do with finding som1 local to scan it with vag.com tool. Somone at work knows a few garages etc and a mate or two. Mine idles high on start up for a bout 30seconds then drops to normal.  The thing is you can hear it on start up for a few seconds then the engines runs quite as anything after.

Actually I'm just thinking the 2ndary air pump is often disabled on the 1,8t maybe an iratic 2ndary air pump is tarting stoping and causing iratic idle as it helps the cat get to op temp . As you say cold mornings effect your idle. The fuse for th 2air pump is located just to the right of engine block irc you can test it with a wire there a few how to vids on you tube maybe worth checking if your pump is intermittent not working working etc. I think a lot of people over look this pump and it may interfere with the ecu command causing false idle

Maybe someone on hear can give thee opinion on this I might see if mine is working. As cars serviced outside vw may not have had this checked etc . You could ask the steelers but they will say anything to get your motor in there hands
