Director/producer/photographer. I run my own business consulting to all the major London advertising agencies.

First ad campaign I ever worked on was the Mk4 'Some things are better left alone' if anyone remembers it from way back when. I'm currently working with the guys who did the GTI Real Racing game. It was inevitable that I bought a GTI with that level of exposure.

Mine'll win the vote for being the dullest job: administrator working in a transport office.
Basically I waste most of my life trying to make sure so called 'professional' drivers carry the correct paperwork and abide by the laws some dozy EU beaurocrats dictate to keep VOSA happy. The rest of the time I spend hours compiling reports that nobody really looks at or understands.
The good points of my job are that nobody really understands most of what I do but they know it's legally necessary, so I get left well alone to pick my nose and surf the internet during quiet periods.

You must have so much brain power by eating all that fish and it costs you nothing. I love fish. Can we be new friends? You give me fish and I'll look after you in other ways.
I've always wanted a fish-wife as a friend. I'll settle for a fish-husband. But I want your best cuts.

Money does not work due to our balmy economy, so we can barter. How about my sister's sister-in law? She's a good cook, a bad driver and deaf. Deal?

Oh, do you have a sister for Exonian?

Our owners are heavily backed by RBS so our earnings will unlimiately benefit us all. However, as you can imagine the last coouple of years have been dreadfully difficult. This year looks like it will be just fine though; been awarded projects with BMW, Mini, Ford, GM and Kia in the last six months so I'm gonna have a busy year. Am off to Thailand next week to discuss some parts for the new Ford Ranger. Thought I'd better make the most of the free flight so will be checking out the islands for 2 weeks.

What about you Egbutt? These days any job is a good job.

Just a holiday home on IOM, great fishing, boating, walking, fresh air, few people, few speed limits, and the TT.

Good for you, the IOM's a great place; I love the riding over there, specially the millenium way.

Mr Polly - you're correct, we write about building materials from aggregates, sand and gravel to concrete and limestone. As well as quarries, we keep our readers up to date with the latest plant and equipment used in the industry, eg Caterpillar dumptrucks, Komatsu excavators, JCB machinery, asphalt plants, crushing and screening equipment, hydraulic breakers etc.

MAW, if you want a copy of the mag, I'll send you our latest issue cos it - excuse the pun - ROCKS!

On the roads if anyone has seen lorries bearing the following company names: Tarmac, CEMEX, Hanson, Lafarge, Aggregate Industries/Bardon - well, they're the main quarry operators in the UK, so they're pretty much responsible for supplying the materials used in our work buildings, your home, driveway etc.

A tomato procurer? You must get to travel to Spain and Italy which in my book has got to be better than being a teacher like me.
By the way the older kids at school (the ones who know anything about cars) were well impressed when I first got the GTi. They're not fussed now cos I've had it 18 months but for a day or two I was "cool"!!!!!

Before Alfred McAlpine were bought out by Carillion a scam was uncovered by the McAlpine auditors (PwC).......................
The senior managers in the Welsh region overstated their stock, as they pretended to have piles of slate behind stacks of slate. However, behind the 'stacks of slate' were empty spaces of air !!!!
So they didn't have the 'stock' which they claimed to have had...............overpricing their holdings and salaries, and in turn, share price.

An Accountants story...................yes, boring, I know but this is allI have !

I have many stories to tell as I've had a long and illustrious (?) career.

One of them is this:

When I was a red-raw scientist in Audiology, I ran a clinic for the very elderly to prescribe hearing aids. It was at this time the NHS had upgraded form the bodyworn (BW) type to the behind the ear (BE) type. The latter were audiologically and acoustically much better and clothes-rub of the BW aids had been eradicated and also because the patient could be bilaterally aided.

One day, I saw this very sprightly and smart 90 year old lady who wished to be upgraded. She was a perfect candidate and I duly processed her request. Three weeks later, I fitted her with her new BE aids. She was delighted and skipped out of the clinic full of the joys of spring.

However, she was back the next day with her 94 year old husband and they both looked ill pleased. I asked her what was wrong, and without going into too many gory details, she told me that the new aids did not suit her way of life (lifestyle we call it nowadays). I was now quite curious and wished to know more. Well I certainly got TMI. She said that every time they were intimate in the Biblical sense, the hearing aids whistled and 'put her husband off his stroke!' Stupidly, 'how so,' I asked. I was now really fascinated by the unfolding saga. She explained to me in graphic detail the positions they adopted during their love making and how he liked to manipulate her. As this rather unseemly and incredible process was being performed the aids themselves fedback and it was very difficult for her husband to regulate them properly as they were behind her ear. I again stupidly suggested she not wear aids during their love making. This was not an option for either of them. They needed to hear the love making chants and grunts which made the whole thing more enjoyable. I went on to suggest alternative positions. She retorted angrily saying that for the last 70 years they had performed in this manner and no hearing aid was going to change that. She further went on to tell me that they had been intimate everyday of their marriage, except when he had to go to war. But as he was a good man, he made up for lost time when he got back. They had 9 children and 30 grandchildren.

So, to cut a long story short, she wanted to have her BW aid back, as this way, 'her husband could regulate her more easily!'

I duly obliged.

Funny, but true.

Nothing wrong with that, sir. I admire postmen and have great respect for them as they have a very tough job and provide an extremely valuable service. IMO they should be paid more than they get at present.

You are right. It is a very tough job. What really annoys me is that some of my snooty neighbours behave a bit badly towards our postman. Obviously, I told them off!
Our present Postman, or should I be politically correct and say Postperson, is a Yorkshireman. He has me in stitches whenever I meet him on his rounds. Terrific guy.
In fact, right through the years, they have all been great.
