Sump removal (What a bugger!)
« on: 10 July 2012, 10:32 »
Removed about 20 sump bolts including the 3 gearbox bolts and still couldnt remove sump!
Then got the tourch out and found 3 little gremlins on the gearbox side hidden! I couldnt get a 10mm on them so used a  long alan key.

Changed the pick up pipe.
Been putting the job off for a long time as I hate oil everywhere but its a simple easy job to do once found every sump bolt

Rubbish pointless thread

Nah mate on the drive took about an hour and lots of f'ing and swearing because I couldnt find every bolt lmao
really not hard at all.

Jack the car up
empty oil
remove 3 gearbox bolts
remove all sump bolts
remove oil pick up pipe (2x10mm bolts)
Then reverse but makesure you use a good sump sealant and remove the sh!te left in the sump and old gasket.

Question for everyone, once the sump is removed whats the black plastic thing hanging above the pick up pipe?

Mine were that caked in crud, I didnt know you could even get a 10mm on, I was using just the allen key attachement on my socket set  :lipsrsealed:

But then asked on here and the rest is history
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

it just carries excess oil losing this is a good weight saving tip and can increase performance by upto 10bhp so you then have 160bhp instead of 150  unless yours is mapped of course

ok kool, only reason i am asking is because my last car was a nissan premiera 2.0 sport and...lets face it, you can take a pair of bolt cutters to that car andit'll still run...badly...but it would still run. looks like this is on my to do list as well as the pipes then  :lipsrsealed:
