Title: Golf GTI Convertible Question
Post by: Jayjay2021 on 01 March 2021, 18:51
Hi.

I've been offered a 1987 golf GTI convertible which is said to be Harman.

Looking for £1000 its white with a black roof.

I just wanted to know how to be sure it's a mark 1, a GTI and a harmann if that's right.

Needs a new roof and pretty dirty so maybe a paint job.

Is £1000 good value. What are these things worth.

130k with mot.

At that age it will definitely be a MK1, the Cab was not updated until the Mk3 in c. 1994.
They were all built at the Karmann factory with VW supplying the engines.
1984 onwards a GTI version was produced.

As for value, that is a really old car and would need significant checking. Bringing it back to life a labour of love

As far a forum experts Madone_si would be the one to ask advice on as he is a Mk1 Cab demon
