BJD's MkII 16v
« on: 04 February 2012, 20:19 »
I bought this back in August of my brother in law's mate as an unfinished project. He took it off the road in 2004, and got it resprayed and tidied up the engine bay a little. My first mk2 was a '92 8v back in 2009, and ever since i sold it, i regretted it and wanted an other.
I have very little mechanical skills and thought this would be a good car to start, so i'm going to try most of the things myself with a little help from a mechanic friend when he's not busy.

The day i picked her up :) -

Tucked up in my other brother in laws garage that he has kindly let me use until his house sells. -

Exterior wise is 90% complete. Interior needed a wee bit of work, only came with dash and saggy headliner and a box full of old/new parts. So my first job was to sort out all the parts that came with the car to see what i all had/needed.

I then started to source some parts to start getting the interior back to normal. Picked up as many parts as my Mk4 would allow me to fit inside from a member. The drivers seat had the usual bolster wear and the passengers had a small fag burn, i managed to source some material to make both near mint.

From -

To -

Few parts arrived one weekend -

Which meant heading down to the garage for a bit -

My next task was to do something with the saggy headliner, so i decided to do this -

Also got a brand new genuine key cut and new kering -

More updates soon :)

What a great thread, This is the kind of thing I love to see. I'm also very jealous cos I know this cars going to have a lot of time an effort put into it an it's going to be a cracker! Just stuff like sortin the seats an headliner, stuff some people totally overlook.

Keep up the good work and updates mate
