Cheers JV

Right, ive had my gti for about 4 months and was totally standard when i baught it.

it came from JCT600 in bradford and has NO EXTRAS and is a MANUAL  (all them extras just weigh it down anyways )

with in the first week i had it lowered just on springs by 20mm as i couldnt afford coilovers at the time, (coilovers are now on order from awesome gti )

my car also came with 17" monza's which do not do ANY car ANY favours so i bought some cheap audi 18" (pic below)

^^also with the springs on,

after the alloys i had a re map and noticed a massive difference in torque taking the car from std 200bhp to around 255bhp.

after the remap i got a carbonio filter from awesome, which was a pain to fit as the front would not go in the std intake hole. so i used screws and screwed it in best i could. (pics below)

after this system was installed i could instantly tell the difference, normally aftermarket filters are all mouth and no go but this is the opposite, i can still hear a slight induction roar but the feeling of the car changed and is able to breath alot more freely and honestly feels quicker!!

anyway a week after fitting this......my brother reversed into the side of my car so it was in the body shop for a week

after my brother had a seriously dead arm my car was out and i want to spend more money on it so off with the audi wheels and on with some BBS RS-GT's laced in goodyear eagle f1's  (orderd from road and stage motorsport morecambe (RSM))
went to pick them up, opened the box, and to my shok they had RED CENTERS!!

NOW THIS IS BECOMING A REAL PROBLEM!!! i need some 65mm BLACK bbs centers and i cant find any ANYWHERE (pm me if anybody finds any )  i even baught some self ad ones and stuck them over the red ones........washed my car at weekend and they fell straight off!!!

i also purchased a forge DV valve from gazbutmk5gti second hand for 90pounds which i thought was reasonable and was like new with hauses already cut to the crrect length, i dont have any pics of this because its far too hard to get to and took me 4 1/2 hours to fit .

i also picked up some eibach anti roll bars of fleebay for 70pounds which is the bargin of the century

next mods include
1. BLACK CENTER CAPS!!!!!!!!!! are a must
2. fitting the anti rolls fitted
3. fitting the eibach coilovers that are on order with awesome. (same time as roll bars) fitted
4. R32/ED30 rear lights (smoked)
5. OSIR front splitter with carbon insert.
6. OSIR side skirts
7. OSIR rear carbon "exhaust" spoiler (mk5 boys know what i mean  )
8. OSIR turbo boost gauge
9. tinted windows
10. german plates on order fitted
11. led drl's in the light unit
12. black VW badges (front and back)

so thats it for the moment, ill update after i get back from america in 2 weeks when the new susspension is fitted  and hopefully balck centers

small update, i have the coilovers on now and am waiting for them to bed in abit then it will need re-aligning.

BBS centers are a pain in the ass, i baught some 68mm ones and am half way through sanding them down so they fit, then a bit of glue

next mods this month are german plates reading YD05-CUK and blue strip with GB in. also looking into the osir boost gauge, looks mint because it sits in the airvent

pics to follow once beded in and centers and plates are on

some pics with the new coilovers on.

it took a while to get the right ride height and also removing a screw in each front arch stopped scrubbing, just undo the screw in the inside of the arch at the top, unscrew and tuck the plastic inner behind where the screw would go  hard to explain

well i got my OSIR boost gauge installed. ordered it from TTshop, there good guys and it came a week later

its running about 17psi at full boost which is about 1.2 bar so im happy with that, full power till about 6100rpm and then tailes off slightly. Any way heres some pics

WHOOOO my open slot grills just came from fischermotorsport.com lots of people have baught these as they are a reasonably cheap mod and look far better than the filled in ones. also they take about 45 seconds to fit each side  just 2 screws (1 on each) pull out and click in the new one, then screw the screws back in EASY!!

WATCH THIS SPACE AS LOTS ARE HAPPENING OVER THE NEXT MONTH OR SO

small update,

went to awesome at weekend on the RR day and ran 201bhp so there was somthing very wrong, also sounded like boost was leaking. so its booked in for tuesday the 15th for full check over and to sort the problem. also im lowering the coilovers more and getting them perfect whilst im there. oh and a torque arm will be fitted aswell
Title: Re: joesgti - black GTI
Post by: joesgti on 18 April 2008, 16:55
small update, well i went down to awesome and there was a problem as i suspected!! i had fitted my own diverter valve and mounted the solenoid in the wrong place which had caused some piping to split!! anyway they changes the pipes and levelled out the coilovers (about 1mm arch from tyre ) also no scrubbing!!

so when i went down it was running 10psi boost from my gauge, its now running 18psi which is 80% increase, i was loosing 8psi from my faulty pipes  :embarassed:!!  so it still ran 201bhp with half the boost, i cant wait to see what shes running now. im guessing between 260-275bhp
Title: Re: joesgti - black GTI
Post by: joesgti on 08 May 2008, 19:30
right, just a few more updates. im not getting the OSIR kit any more, i have decided to go with the rieger kit, which is front splitter with carbon flat lip and chanel skirts. then the R32 rear with miltek

anyway im not ordering that till next month, so this is what i got in the meantime.
some new bright white bulbs, they look so much better at night rather than the cr@ppy yellow ones.

Next i got some R32/ed30 rears
Before:

and after:

cant tell much difference in the pics as the sun was very bright. but they look really lush in the flesh, i couldnt stand the pink ones that come standard.

also big thanks to gulf for sorting half the mk5 section out with these beauties for 6quids!!! cant go wrong with that price!!

and also got this printed by gttdi, tried it on my bonnet and it looks OK, if i get sick of it ill just peel it off as it come off rather easily.

Title: Re: joesgti - black GTI
Post by: joesgti on 30 July 2008, 14:31
well forum has deleted the last post i made so il have to post it again

After some research into OSIR grill for the mk5 (£250) i found a copy on ebay, still very very good quality (as im sure a few of you know) but was only about 80 squid so i snatched that up. also got a black front VW badge and the car's front has now totally changed and looks far more aggressive

and one of its ass

also got the sound system sorted and have now got blue tooth, DVD, CD, Radio, sub, amp n all that  but no pics.

My car only ran 230bhp at the last RR day so i wasnt happy, so i went to awesome and had diagnostics session for 2 hours and they colunt find a thing wrong with it except that it wasnt boosting at all past 5krpm, it was running 18psi and the at 5k it droped to 4psi . so we came to the conclusion that it was the map i had.

So after the above i gave the people who did my map a call, he then booked my car in and took the map off, played about with it abit and then re-remapped it with a more "aggressive map"  so took it for a spin and FOOOOOK ME SIDEWAYS, ITS FAST  . so im gonna try and get in at awesomes rollers soon and see what we get now.

Anyway next on my list is getting my arches touched up as the tyres have scrubbed the paint off when on bumpy roads, going to bring the front up 2-3mm aswell to stop this in the future. Off to IBIZA on friday so il get this done when im back

some pics of work done yesterday.

Please note that the pics are cr@ppy, the car was filthy, the new parts hadnt been polished and had thumb prints and muck all over them (from fitting).

Started by taking off the rear, lower bumper, piece of piss but i had mud guards on and they were a right pain to get off.
Bumper off.

then i rememberd Johnnyc's thred and he removed the rear crash bracket, so i did the same  Tongue
(http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd153/joesgti/DSC00284.jpg)

put exhaust on
(http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd153/joesgti/DSC00285.jpg)

Then back on with the R32 bumper (time taken so far 1 1/2 hours)

Front splitter, this looks F00KING AWESOME in real life, not so much in the pics  Smiley
(http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd153/joesgti/DSC00289.jpg)

took 2 hours up to now, front splitter is about 6-7 torx screws so is damn easy to take off.

next were the skirts, we didnt have time to bond them, so we got the standard skirts off and then left the garage.

whilst getting the skirts off (i was pissed off and getting tired)

and finaly off. the std ones are soooooo cr@p, they literally glue them to the car with sticky pads!!  surprised

will have some of the finished car after dinner hopefully.  Smiley

quick update, no pics.

had my full tbe fitted now and makes an awesome noise,  also goes like stink.

had it in at awesome about 2 weeks ago for the fitting of the DP and also to have a quick diagnostics as my car wasnt boosting past 10psi!! they couldnt find a fault but did find that something on my susspension had snapped, so that will be replaced under warrenty next week i believe.

Now the thing that p!ssed me off was the boosting, it should go upto 20-22psi on full boost, mine was boosting upto 10psi and then after about 4k revs it would go up to full boost, it did this for about a week and then wouldnt go past 10 what so ever. so i thought id call forge up and i spoke to a very friendly man, he said it could be a problem with the DV sticking. So he sent me a service pack free of charge containg a new spring, piston and washers.

So i recieved the pack, went under my car to remove the dv, removed it, cleaned it, put the new spring etc, re-lubbed it, went to put it back on the car and realised it had been mounted incorrectly in the first fecking place!!! WTF!!! it was actually on an angle mounted in the wrong holes?!!

So awesome fitted it in the first place, and i paid for 2 hours diagnostics session, for feck all!!! annoyed and waiting for a respose.

On another note the car now runs amazingly, boost straight away and the tbe really makes a difference!!

UPDATE

So went to nurburg last weekend, before i went we got these fitted to the car, they performed absolutly brilliantly with no fade around the whole lap. I was using SBS pads and standard discs.

The Discs coped with the heat fairly well but were smoking when i came of the second lap.  signLOL

think il run some ducting behind the wheel arch for extra cooling and the will be spot on.  party

I was running 19" CH's and need a 3mm spacer on the front, not sure how they fit with the std monza's. They were purchased from DaveB1970 for a very good price, and im sure he can sort other forum members out for the same price.

Also got new arches, wheel liners and undertray arriving tomorrow as they took a pounding!!  Grin
