Title: EOBD II Fault Codes Software
Post by: Keithuk on 09 July 2012, 22:29
Hi guys.

When I bought my Golf GTD over 4 years ago I printed out all the data from AD which we have at work. I thought if would be better if all these EOBD II error codes were in an app so you could search for the number and its description and cause would be shown. You can search the database for any VAG or EOBD II error number, Fault location and Possible causes, words or numbers. I've added different error codes that I've found over the years and it now has 7800+. Now because I have a VW these codes will match VAG vehicle but obviously EOBD II error codes match alot of manufactures.

Now I've tried it on Win9x/ME/WinXp 32bit/Vista 32bit/Windows 7 32bit/Windows 8 64bit and it works ok. I posted this app 3 years ago on www.myturbodiesel.com and some say it works on Win7. The problem that Chitty posted is it didn't work on his Vista 64bit yet another users post it work on his Win7 64bit if he Run as administrator. Sorry I can't give you anymore help of this as I'm not installing Win7 64bit just to try it out.

Please read the ReadMe First.txt file before you use it.

I hear you say you can search online for error codes, yes you can on various sites but no one site has them all, thats if you can get online.

This version has 7951 error codes my new version has 10,037 error codes.

I can't add the attachment to download the files so you will have to PM me.

Keith

Thanks for that, I followed your instructions to get it to work (readme.txt) and had to run as administrator, but works fine on Windows 7 x64.  Had a quick check for some old fault codes my brothers Audi had and your app had all the details.

Superb

Cheers Alastair.

I said in my first post that users say run as administrator on Win7 64bit and it works. That just goes to show how sh!tty Win7 is when you have to do that.

I have tried it on my PC (Windows 7 64 bit), thanks Keith for sending it, but unfortunately it doesn't work. Will try with the 32 bit version.

There is a strange quark with Win7 64bit you have to run the exe as an Administrator stupid Win7.

Not realated to VW's I have made a Motorcycle Technical Data (http://www.myturbodiesel.com/forum/f8/motorcycle-technical-data-17586/) app if anyone is interested PM me but show the correct app that you want?

Because of the odd problem saying it doesn't work on Win7 64bit try right-clicking on exe and select Run as Administrator. I've had users say it works perfeclty on Win7 64bit and Win8 64bit. I've now made an installation package and I've added more error codes so it not shows 7951.

Title: EOBD II Fault Codes Software Update
Post by: Keithuk on 09 February 2014, 01:56
Ok here is the new update its gone from 7872 error codes the new version has 10,037 error codes. Now its gone over 10,000 I've programme it to show the comma.

I've corrected a slight bug in the last version which another user pointed out. If you click on an item in the list then you use the cursor keys to scroll up or down it was always one code behind. I programmed the Key Down and Key Press but I didn't programme the Key Up so that now works as it should do.

I found an OBD site that show extra info like Tech Notes: When is the code detected?: Description: so I've added this info to the codes.

I've written the new help file with WinCHM Pro so there is no need to download anything from Microsoft for the old Windows help files.

This new app shows online PDF files no problem but you can't right click on it and save it so I've added Download PDF on the menu bar so you can open your browser and save the PDF where ever you want too.

I can't add attachments so you will have to PM me if you want this new version.
