BHP + MPG
« on: 29 April 2003, 12:08 »
I see that a lot of gti'ers have up the BHP with cat free exhausts, chipping, induction kits etc... but does this mean that the gov gets more money in petrol tax; does the car drink the petrol?

Thats a damn good question, mines standard apart from a jetex air filter element (ha ha!). I'm interested in a new exhaust system and induction kits.

Alot depends on driving style, driving conditions (i.e. Urban etc)

But i mean if u drive everywhere flat on the limiter ur prob gonna b drinking optimax like its going outta fashion :D..

Asking around my mates who all have modded cars it seems to be only those with wild mods (e.g. Turbo conversions, engine swaps, NoS and silly stuff like that) that suffer the most with MPG...

Im keen to here from those lucky vr6 owners about the MPG/BHP performance info for them, if they use their cars as daily drivers...

Cheers

Ows in response -
I drive my VR6 daily and it delivers a relatively good mpg against the town traffic and up to about 33mpg on the journey home (little bit urban). Bhp wise it is totally standard and purs like a pussycat with a lions voicebox! I was thinking about playing about with the cat/chip etc but I think its time to sell the lady on though my mate's delivers about 320bhp and I'm trying to get him on this site to pass on his secrets!!! (I won't mention that he's blown his supercharger on his lump twice from racing against those Scoobies)
