Day 2 update :)

Jetex stainless system fitted. Had to undo the bottom shock bolts so i could pull the axle down for the 2.5in exhaust to go over lol. Its tight!

Driveshafts back in
Lower stainless steel strutbrace fitted
256mm brakes on, just need a couple of pipes fabbing up, a rebleed then it'll be back on all fours.

Finished my day off by adding some of the ancillaries and re-routing a few things to look as tidy as possible.

Day 3 update

Its running and i drove it home

Pic of the bay

Few things i not happy about
Position of throttle and clutch cables, going to re-route them so they look tidier.

The mk1 gti fuel lines was'nt long enough to tuck them away so they have to stay til i get some made or if i find the PL 16v lines.

I wired it up using the mk1 gti loom then added in the KR ECU loom which i shortened. The ecu is now neatly tucked in the rain tray and attached to the TCI unit, just how i did in my caddy.

Because i was'nt running the full KR loom, i could'nt use the ISV set up for controling the idling.

I used the AAV from the old gti engine which i chopped its mounting bracket off and filed down so it was just a neat cylinder.

After priming the pump so the fueling was under pressure, turned key fully and she started first time, Result.

Would'nt idle at all though then i realised i forgotten to connect the vacuum pipe to ecu , Yes i was in a rush to get her done.
Once sorted, she idled brill with just a little adjustment with the Idle screw on the TB.

Set my gear linkage up which work perfect first time then went for a spin(literally).

Its twice the car it was before. Goes, stops and sounds great.

16v Conversion, Brake upgrade and stainless system done in 3 days. Get in there

New slimline fan next to original unit

Now sits in front of the rad

It can work either by pushing or pulling air, just depends which wire you use for the positive.

Much tidier than the original unit

Collected these this morning

OZ turbo's, 15x7j and ET33's.

Had the wrong size tyres on so i removed them straight away at a garage i've been helping out at.

Going to have some centre's made

Now searching for wider lips and some stainless RS bolts

OZ sockets arrived today which i've borrowed so i could remove the bolts without damaging the original lips. Might need to re-use 2 of the lips so it made sense to remove them properly.

The 4th wheel is at a machine shop as i'am having some flush centres made :)

I'am now looking for a pair of 1in and 1.5in lips, maybe 2in so the fronts will be 7.5's and the rears 8's or 8.5's

I've got a load of RS bolts, 1 set is chrome, the other is a darker shade which could be stainless but its hard to tell.

Also ordered 185/45/15 tyres

Oh, this is the look i going for other than shiney bolts to break them up abit

Had my golf rolling roaded today

Peter Baldwins in wimpole, cambridgeshire. Very professional and i'll definately be using him again in the future.

My fueling is now set correctly and so is my timing.

Also found out that my TB was'nt fully opening due to the mk2 cable i've used. I've now adjusted it so it just about works, i'll look into a better set up when i get 5 mins.

Timing is as advanced as what she'll start at, there was a few more ponies but she would'nt restart so we've gone for a happy medium. Might take its toll on the old mk1 gti starter but i have a recon mk2 16v jobbie in the garage so i have back up and if that fails, i going to fit a larger diesel unit.

Anyway, i was asked roughly what i thought the power would be and i said 150 soooo, when he said it was 164bhp(fly) i was well happy  :)

After a short run down the road and back, i could definately notice the difference made.

Money well spent

Did'nt get a vid of the run as it was me driving it on the rollers as the fella's apprentice

Here's a pic though

Now that my laptops working again, here's a pic of my new bonnet and tailgate nicely wrapped up in my spare room awaiting me to fit them

Also a couple of pic's of my shot blasted turbo's which i cant wait to get built up.

Damn i gunna be busy before UD lol

Well while the wife(Gem) was polishing the bolts to my oz turbos's, I swapped over the tailgate and tidied a few bits up

Gem with the mop, she got fed up doing them by hand

Tailgate'less golf

New tailgate on and mopped up
