Or avoid inflicting swirls in first place so you don't have to resort to glaze to hide them.

As glazes go though, it's the best.  Great additional shine it gives too but has no protective properties so must be topped off with sealant and/or wax.

Well it looks like I am about to pull the trigger and order a Deep Black GTi PP this weekend. I will have to get some Valet Pro Citrus Pre Wash and few other bits and bobs. I really like the way DoDo Juice Blue Velvet Pro performs but what is the equivalent for Black?

For me with my DBP Amarok, it's all about the initial preparation and protection, followed by minimal contact.

I had it pro-detailled when I first got it as much as I would have loved to have spent the time doing it myself, it was so much cheaper than me spending twice as long and not earning. Since then it has has pretty much the same pre wash and hand washing procedure as others have mentioned. I also take the minimal contact theory one stage further by putting up with the dirt for longer. If I don't have the time to wash it properly (2 hours min) it won't get done. There should be no such thing as just a quick wash.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

DoDo Juice Blue Velve Pro is the equivalent for black.  My mk6 GTI spent much of its life coated in it. There's also a colour charged version of DJ Supernatural Hybrid - Black Widow

There should be no such thing as just a quick wash.

Amen to that.  If you value your DBP paintwork, anything other than a full proper wash and dry is a no-no.

I'll often miss out the drying stage too, especially at this time of year. Yes, it will look great when it's done, but it WILL be dirty again the next time it's driven, or even when it's got dusty then rained on. It's more about preservation of the paint than having a gleaming truck for me.

I get what you're saying.  I hope you have soft water or a filter otherwise you're not doing the paint much good getting it covered in water spots.  I'd never miss the drying stage even using DI water.  Personal pref.
