I'm using one and its useful for logging business miles apart from the other interesting information it provides to your phone.

It costs nothing..

Don't BMW have this crap installed in their vehicles anyway? Apparently its so you can be told about servicing.... yeah right.

Exactly, the AA are also trying to get people to have one and many will not realising how much information they are farming from you. I will pass thanks. Got one yesterday to see the crack with it as it is easily removed if not wanted or as soon as I start getting spam for servicing!

To be honest, I'm far happier with VWs data privacy policies compared to the free for all that seems to be the case with American companies like Google & Facebook

The automatic service appointment settings can be turned off anyway, if thats your concern. The other app features such as driving style analysis are no more intrusive than the insurance company apps that are commonplace, my dashcam already records speed and GPS location in case of accident so it's no worry to me, especially coming from a job where virtually every keystroke on my computer is logged, and all phone calls are recorded for audit purposes

Anyway, picked up two devices today from the dealer for free - plug & play as you'd expect, I'm sure the app will get more features added over time and the mileage logs/fuel tracking features alone will save me a stack of time each month for doing my expense claims for work

Plus all new cars built after 2018 need to have accident & emergency location tracking features as standard so these type of apps will become commonplace, with no need for the dongles going forward

Don't bother with Parkway in Leicester. Absolute bulls*****s. Called them and they said they need to book me in as they need to go through it and program it to my car! Oh well, not really worth it anyway.
