F*ck off. It'll get rims at the least and then they won't look quite right, so it'll get a drop..... and then.... and then..... and then...... and then the cosmetic tinkering will start.
You are such a tinkerer.
-
place your bets fellas .
yellow lights - Clear front indicators
Then THATS it - DAILY mile muncher - it DEFFO wont be getting slammed
-
Would look nice with some new wheels on it though
-
nah - one standard & it's modded wagon buddy
-
Surely you've got some 15" rims lying around that would suit?
You really can't leave it on those 14"ers - crime against nature.
-
thought that was a fiesta mk2 for a moment
-
i have a set of 15, need refurb and tyres
i have a full set of 14s for this off the wagon
but alas, standard is the new thing 2011 - you heard it here first
-
I don't believe you chuff, I agree with DH, you won't be able to keep it standard, the headlights will need something else to 'compliment' it.
You bringing this or the wagon to Volksfest then?
-
in the history of this thread it's gone from yellow headlights to yellow headlights and clear indicators and that was in 15 mins, we are now nearly 45 mins on from that so i reackon the rims are in there now and by the end of the simpsons on sky 1 it will be on coilies!!
-
I have the film and the clear indicators already
Place ya bets gentlemen -I won over £200 when peeps said i wouldnt stay off a bike for a certain length of time
-
mmmmmm would look mucho      with some g60 steels
-
wondered when you'd chirp up
-
You love old Passat's, don't ya? :D
Looks brand-new, like just came out from the factory...Not sure about slamming, but it's crying for some nice BBS's
-
Love B3 saloons  Makes me wish I still had mine.
-
Another nice find,
-
Does need rims and a 40mm drop to be fair. Bit that's not modding, that's just fixing what was wrong from the factory. All dailys should at least have some rimmage and slammage!
Nick

Hmmmmmmm..............what should I do with that -40mm kit I'm taking off the 'rado this weekend.............................

-
collected satis - a BIG thanks to Guy for taking me up there - a bit further than expected
she is in better condition than expected, and performed well on the way home, a nice 43.1 MPG even with a few spirited bursts to see how she went .
the ride could be described as " wallowy " but all is good.
needs a few trim / dash bits inside, but apart from that all is good :afro:
-
(http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp359/chuffs69/IMG_0048.jpg)

Does anyone think he will crack with a bit of peer presure????
i think with 2 cars (unless you're rich) you're not tempted to blow money on both as all the spare cash could go on one... he has the wagon and its awesome. if theres spare cash kicking about, spend it on that. Otherwise defeats the purpose of a mile muncher... but i dont know, he might crack!

Finding cheap, solid cars isn't that hard at all, especially if you're
a) patient
b) willing to buy something a bit off-centre
c) prepared to move fast when you spot what you want
Chuff is all of these. He's like a cheap car buying ninja.

-
Nice one Chuff. I likes a good 'loon
-
seeing it next to a lot of lowered cars last night, SHE IS HIGH
-
With that sort of ride height, you should nip across the channel and pick up one of these (http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/showDetails.html?__lp=8&scopeId=C&sortOption.sortBy=price.consumerGrossEuro&sortOption.sortOrder=ASCENDING&makeModelVariant1.makeId=25200&makeModelVariant1.modelId=25&makeModelVariant1.modelDescription=syncro&makeModelVariant1.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant2.searchInFreetext=false&makeModelVariant3.searchInFreetext=false&vehicleCategory=Car&segment=Car&siteId=GERMANY&negativeFeatures=EXPORT&damageUnrepaired=NO_DAMAGE_UNREPAIRED&export=NO_EXPORT&customerIdsAsString=&lang=de&id=128805007&pageNumber=1)

least i can bring it over to the IOW and get on the floating b
have they fixed the floating bridge now?
by the time you`ve paid for the ferry this time of year, you could lower and put alloys on for the same price lol
-
It's been fixed for months - it was only out for 2-3 weeks earlier in the year when they snapped a driveshaft.
Go Wightlink after 22:30 and it's £15 each way + £1 per additional passenger.
-
well we are still waiting for the house warming party invite DH  :lipsrsealed:
oh and it will be a T4 - Nowt else
anyway back on topic
after ripping the headling out of the Wagon - i decided to head off to a Scrappies where there was alledgly 2 B3's
upon arrival one had already been crushed, and the other had been wrecked inside for the bits i wanted
however, just coming out of the oil water and battery removal shed was a B3 Gt wagon
And what was someone elses rot box became my saviour
All this lot
(http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp359/chuffs69/DSCF3601.jpg)
for the grand sum of £25 :afro:
so i now have a fully rebuilt and secured dash, decent OSF headlight and some uncracked indicators
-
The wagon looks like a dinky car next to the new one in your sig Chuff.
Good work though, something different
-
is it the light or is the OSF headlight now clearer than the other... dont matter, i knw you're going to be ambering them up soon.. well done on the 25 notes bargain!
-
Good find! Is that mod no1 on the slippery slope to rimmage and slamage??
-
all these are REPAIRS not mods
-
I thought you just needed the headlight but the indicators are a desirable
-
needed an indicator after i " removed " it - in bitz
-
 fair one and why not repair and upgrade at the same time, my mate wants a new exhaust for hit ST so on the mot he got the tester to put down exhaust corrosion as an advisory so he can show his wife and get new exhaust
-
Salvage anything else from the GT wagon? The arch flares are seriously tasty on a 'loon
-
nah, thats what causes the death of a lot fo the GTs - rot behind the arches
just a few other spares to source to fix little issues and thats the lot.
was going to check her over today but the weathers fcuked that up
better stereo ( it was the original one ) is fitted and confirmed the sunroof is leaking
-
roadtrip!!!
-
Goodjob we brought the loon. The wagon would now be beached on the humps in hell .
-

-
she did well today on our little adventure,
speed humps crested no bother
a long stint in traffic ( who would go anywhere near wembly when theres summat on :lipsrsealed:  ) and no overheating issues .
and still returning over 40 mpg
-
So why are you yellowing the lights? Aside from making them look like they're full of pee?
-
cos i can thomas -
-
well after doing more miles in 4 days than the cars done in the last 4 months the problems have arisen .
The tyres, or at least 2 of them are shot
And thats it
So its either stick the Nankangs that came off the wagon on it :undecided:
of just stick the Toyos on the MKII Rims that came off the Skoda.
MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

and you thats following me today
-
Surely it's cheaper to buy new rims with good tyres on......
-
i have 5 sets of rims already - and dont start
-
So just bang a set of your five rims on it!
Unless they're all shod with Nankangs...
I guess the pee-filled lights go with the Grandad image you're trying to culture.
Have you ever thought about getting a Granada?
-
sooooooo - are the mods starting then chuff? - once different wheels are on you will have to do other things to it!
-
Fit 1 wheel from each the sets of rims, so each corner is different. Now that really would be Marmite.
-

Taking what some people do (spraying each wheel a different colour) to a whole new level there!
-
tyre issues sorted - new nankamgs on the front  and the best of the rest on the rears :lipsrsealed:
had a good check round, all brakes are good with loads of wear left ,
all CV boots intact so all is good
Even swapped the wheel trims over to keep Mr Tona happy :lipsrsealed:

DHs joke, already done
-
Didn't see it till now
and it's still a mod
-
You should positive camber the f**k out of all four wheels so it looks like they are going to fold flat; back to the future style
-
well i am currently doing a few sums to see if i can get 2(b3) to equal T4
-
It doesn't work out chuff.
-
no - but wheres theres a will theres a way
-
Well you've got plenty of wheels ;)
-
Corrected for accuracy.
no - but wheres theres a determined Chuff theres a way
-
cheers thomas - if you hear of anyone wanting rid of a VW van and wants a car or two in part ex let me know
-
That wagon is one of the coolest cars on the forum.
Trading it for a van would be like trading a 5 course meal at a michelin star restaurant for a 10 minute bum shag with Mr Motivator.
Ps - It's unfair of you to withhold rimmage and slammage on a car with such potential for badassness.
-

why thank you

well if you like it that much - it could be yours

You need to pay more attention to vans. They can be just as cool as cars, provided they don't contain morons.

Is it just my crazy brain, or does the saloon look like it is weightless and is about to float up in the air forwards!
-
no its not just you, it does look like its about to take off!!
-
seems like you like it - wanna buy it
-
yeah be great to work on, bet you don't even have to jack it up to change the oil!
-
correct, only downside is going from this to the wagon - and remembering what a PITA a lowered motor is - espeaically tonight as i gotta swap the rims off the Wagon  and fit the 14 steelies off the skoda
-
chuff you'd be able to get a job as an f1 wheel man the amount of wheels youve changed!
-

Is it just my crazy brain, or does the saloon look like it is weightless and is about to float up in the air forwards!
Actually if you've seen the video you'd know they're in a suspension press-up competition against one another - that's how hard Chuff's motors are.
-
well i am in discussion to swap the 'loon for summat else  Newer - non vag and the beginning of the end.
Stand by

the urge to mod it is toooooo strong :lipsrsealed:
so if i can do a deal for summat that i DEFFO wont be modding then it has to go.
and the possible replacement will NEVER get modded - rhyso knows the score
-
Give in.
Mod the 'loon.
-
Well after nearly 2 months i finally got the motivation to Wash and wax the old girl, not a full indepth job, just a quick once over and a good effort on the bonnet.
No piccies as i couldnt be arsed
Then nearly swapped it for a Caddy Van - until i did an mot online check and found out how much rot had been repaired on it
and is still for sale
-
well after making a tough decision ( see the wagon thread  ) i thought i would treat the saloon to some TLC
Step up Mr Tona - :afro:

Yes but he's not bought it, he's just navel-gazing.
