Don't get me wrong ... I love VW's.
But Santa Pod is entertaining only @ the Jap Fest ... with all the ridiculously fast cars going down the strips!

Springfest is the best show of the year, it is the Grumpiest show that ever happened. it is pretty much just used to turn up, park up, walk about, moan, eat sh!t and somehow get frostbite, soaked and sunburnt on the same day.

Fingers crossed we'll be there early enough to get the banner out (who's got it Chuff?) and we normally acquire the space just to the left of the main spectator stand. I'll get on Google later and point out the spot.
Failing that you could have a look in the main gallery of the golfgti.co.uk site for past years reports, and that would give you a hint of where it will be.

I know last year Slimmed Mk2 tried getting round in his Audi wagon last year and they turned him away.

Good news on stand location again! Well done!! Really enjoyed last year and I managed to squeeze on last year! Which was my First show!! Thanks!
Hopefully car is looking better than it did! Trying my best for the site! Just wish it was lowered but times are tight at the mo! Hoping to either put a 40mm spring kit on or if not pick up somet down there! From traders or auto jumble..
Be good to meet people again cos not seen anyone since last year, cos didn't make that many of the shows,

I might be able to put mine In car, I got a handheld reader and vagcom on a netbook. Have to check it's ok to bring along cos missus sometimes uses.. Think I use 409.1 if compatable?

What I meant was, I can get there to set it up (as people are dropping like flies), but I would be in the wagon, and have nothing of obvious signage in terms of what club I am from (representing) except a sticker on the back window.
Therefore, was there any need for me to get down early and secure our spot? If not, then I'll just stick it in a field and ring those who I know are going.

Just finished cleaning it, started at 11!
Slight bit of discolouration on the o/s wing, and a bubble of rust behind the rear gti badge though.
Wouldn't class as a minter but tidy for a daily :wink:

mine isnt perfect either, has 2 bubbles of rust on it in same place either side, low down on rear qtr panel near sill trim, and also hasnt being lowered so looks like is got a jack under the front,
but hopefully will all be sorted for the next show,
mine also is a daily and does 250miles a week so is never gonna be mint, :(
but i think itll be ok on stand.. specially when numbers are low, id of given my spot up for a minter thou.

Just got in from giving the rat it's bi-weekly sponge bath. Looks brilliant now, even the turtlewax worked a treat. will look mint in the fields at pod. See you there about half ten chuff.

I know the sites called GolfGti.co.uk and im pretty new to the site and dont really know how you guys do things if im honest but theres some very nice dubz on this site which are not all Golf Gtis just think maybe the Golf Gtis only and how clean is your car before your allowed has effected numbers for the stand.Maybe next year allow other vws not just golfs as its still good to go on a stand and see a good mix of cars just my opionion.Hope you all have a good day at the show ill look out for the stand :wink:

I was just about to type somet similar, was decided earlier In the thread so that's why numbers have tumbled..

Not really decided, just forgotten.
Slick and a few others were turned away by the organisers cos they thought they were taking the mick, 'what's a Passat doing on a Golfgti stand?' You can sort of see their point, albeit a short-sighted one.
It's a shame I can't make it as I'm caring for my wife after a major op, but I will try and iron out the problems for the next Santa Pod visits with the forum.
As for the cleaned bit Blu, surely if you want to represent the forum, and we're very glad that you do, you would want your pride and joy to be clean? Even if it means stopping at a petrol station enroute, it can't be too much to ask is it?

gates open around 9ish but expect big cues once through the gate follow the road around behind the starting line of the strip. when you see a marshal just say your on the golfgti stand and he'll tell you where to go

No queue to get in even at 10am
No queue for the strip all day
a HANDFUL of trade stands,
same for the autojumble
and a VERY empty show car and show n shine area.

My first experience of Santa pod didnt live up to what I'd imagined!
Think I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't feeling sh!t and annoyed that a few of my mates pulled out last minute!
Plus the weather was sh!te. Roll on summer :grin:

A local show so rude not to go really. Entered show and shine and won a trophy so wasnt too bad. :tongue:
Being on Mothers Day + weather didnt help with the numbers. I do like the auto jumbles at this show tbh.

thought the weather was alright this year but it didnt help it being mothers day and you got early edition soon and people cant afford/dont want to do both

not the best day to do it on mother's day. the organisers rang me earlier in the week offering me a good deal to stand but we jusyt dont do the vag parts anymotre and what we have left wouldnt be worth standing. shame as the first 2 we went to were excellent

got there early expecting a big turn out and tbh there was less there than VAGFEST which was also poor last summer, some nice cars but I was ready to go home after a hour but made the day last after spending £50 on fuel and £30 to get in trade stands where shocking, got a few stickers and that was it, auto jumble was poor. and tbh the track action wasnt up to much either.
wont be going again hope this isnt a sign of things to come.

Santa pod always seems to be a poor turn out for VW shows compared to the rest!
reminded me of VAGfest last year and i think thats where people are getting confused and comparing them so don't bother going!
Weather i thought was cool, autoumble a little small and the bits i did want were well overpriced with scene tax and wasn't a bit surprised he didn't sell one bit and pack it all back into his van!
best part for me was the almost 20 car convy and a huge local clubstand!
not a sign of things to come i wouldn't of thought as Dubfreeze and Ultimate Dubs were more packed out! also alot of shows are camping which makes more people go. :smiley:

for someone playing the track action was awesome, but as a spectator booooring
doesn't help that the quick cars now get treated nice by santa pod for there lifestyle events but not for this so the faster cars stayed away, shame really
but anyone who had a go and enjoyed it, and fancied some more come race with the VWDRC :evil:

Turn out for this last year was on a different level to this year with the queue being out the gate to get in,so I was shocked when I turned up to what was almost a deserted Santa pod,no queue what so ever!
There where some nice cars there and dizzy rascals is always quite entertaining,also first time putting my car in the show and shine (which I only did coz I didn't want to park in the field) but overall I think the show was ruined by mothers day and I'm sure next year it will be back on par!

The show wasnt bad but turn out wasnt to good numbers were down, still some good cars to see but just shows you how hard times are with rising petrol and people noting having spare money anymore for events like this.I also think £15 is steap it should be no more than a tenner..
