Waze coming to Apple CarPlay

Installed the latest IS0 12.0 today, plugged my phone it into my car but no waze on the CarPlay screen?

Do I need to make any adjustments to any settings?

Had the same frustration myself, but a bit of googling found that it requires an update to the waze app, or, indeed the google maps app, to enable use on CarPlay. The updates to both are, apparently, being checked out by beta users and should be available to us sometime next month. Don’t understand why they weren’t ready, given all the hype and anticipation, but that’s how it is.

On a separate note, I’ve noticed on two separate journeys now since updating to iOS 12 that I’ve been getting the Facebook messenger dings through the car speakers even though there’s no messenger CarPlay app? Anyone any ideas?

Tried it this morning. I like the satellite view and traffic shows up pretty well but I'd prefer a more 3D/birdseye view rather than 2D. Couldn't see anything in the settings.

We’ve been using Google Maps as navigation in my wife’s Skoda Fabia, which doesn’t have satnav fitted, but does have CarPlay. Works very well with good instructions. Not much choice offered as to presentation, but it seems much more current than Discover Nav regarding traffic flow etc. No speed camera information, though, so still keen to try Waze, when they get their act together!

Never understood the craze about waze, just another more or less useless sat nav app.

Have you actually tried it, sounds like you haven't.

I have tried it and found it a bit useless; not an awful lot of functionality. I had speedcam database on my mk7; and with WiFi the DM2 system was reasonably good with traffic as well.
With that combo I just didn't see Waze being all it was hyped for.

Waze is up and running.

Tried it out briefly and found it competent enough. Will be trying on a longer journey where speed camera warnings etc. come into play.

One huge advantage, over Discover Nav, of either is the ability to simply search for virtually any destination. Much simpler than trying to find POIs etc. Neither seem to use much data to perform, so no hit there, either.

I have now got Google Maps and Waze installed on Apple car play and they work fine when I want them to. The only thing that is bugging me now is even though I have not selected to use them and let’s say I am using Amazon music or Spotify instead, the Nav display in the active info display stops working and says mobile Nav is in use when it’s not. Any ideas whether I can stop this happening or what I have/haven’t done to stop this from happening??
