Anyone just walked away?
« on: 19 June 2018, 06:21 »
So face a dilemma as to what to do.

Thinking about ordering a GTi to replace GTD but from reading posts on here lead times are possibly November.

My PCP deal expires in September, no equity but not in negative equity so can just give it back without any penalty.  I will save possibly a grand on last payments, MOT and front pads and discs being replaced if I chop it in now.

Has anyone just terminated their PCP and gone through VW Finance process of the car being assessed by a representative from British Car Auctions?  How particular are they when it comes to acceptable wear and tear?  My brake wear light is on - will this be an issue?

Ordered Jun 18: R 5dr, IG, DSG, Prets, DLA, climate w/s and tints.
Aug 14 - Jul 18: GTD 5dr, CSG, DSG, S&S pack, Vienna leather and Santiago's.

Why not try selling it yourself and you may be able to get yourself some equity towards the next car.

Other than that early termination is a simple process so long as your car is in good condition.

Bear in mind that you can currently only order the GTI PP, not the standard GTI.

If you’re flexible on colour / options, it might be possible for a dealer to source you a car from existing stock in the UK?

I don't have my inspection report to hand, but I do recall that warning lights on the dash is something they don't like. They will also pick up on any noticeable bodywork imperfections. I thought they were quite fair really, but you won't get away with murder.

I thought the only way out of a PCP was VT?

I know we talked about it on here before, but I did my maths on my own PCP deal the other day and basically, I could get out of it one month earlier out of 36 months... which probably is worth it if I can dodge some extra costs as well as a month's payment.

Anyway, yes, they will want any warning lights resolved and any visible damage fixed - but they'll want that doing regardless - you'd have had to have done it at the end anyway.

Definitely ask for the documentation on returning vehicle condition - because you might find some things you'd not be happy with, they will and vice versa.

I sold mines on Tootle a few months before the end. Bought by a VW dealer they cleared the finance and I got a few hundred quid.

You can get out of a PCP at any time simply by requesting a settlement figure and paying it.
