Boot light not working & Clocks Question.....
« on: 30 August 2011, 17:40 »
Hey all

Just noticed my boot light isnt working.  All of my other interior lights are working as is the lighter power outlet underneath it.

I have checked the bulb and replaced it with no luck at all.

I have checked the microswitch thats on the boot latch and its fine, no corrosion etc and I have cleaned it too.

Also, I have seen sme golfs with different functions on the clocks, i.e. "Luggage Compartment Open" when the boot is open, or the icon popping up when the doors are open.  I dont have any of this and Im wondering why lol.  My car is a 1999 GTi Turbo.

Any help appreciated....

Cheers

I still think the microswitch is no good have you removed the latch?

Do you have power at the latch?

Check the wires in the rubber grommet that go through the tailgate they can break here

I cant check at the switch as there is nowhere to take power measurement from.

There is defo no power at all at the light.

I still have the old boot and I have just tried the old switch in there with no luck too

The wire at the back of the latch? http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/319766.aspx

Yeah have seen that cheers mate.  But the wire into the microswitch and terminal it connects to are too small to fit multimeter probes into, they are literally tiny.

I have a Cupra R aswell and wanted to see if the boot light fit but they are totally different lol - must be the only things that are different, loads of interchangable parts lol.

Got ya.  Maybe use a paper-clip to help get a reading  :undecided:

2 bits of wire and a bulb, have you checked the fuse?
