new disc pads fitted bt nearly a fatal mistake
« on: 24 March 2010, 20:02 »
rite got the new front disc and ebc green stuff pads on today all went really well only took about an hour and 10 mins  well happy with that.
just need to do the back ones now so hoping to weather stay nice.

well the mistake i made was well i blame the missus for rushing ,finished the drives side and put the wheel bk on put the wheel nut back in tightened them up,then i lowered the jack and job was done well i thought it was i only 4got to retightened  :embarassed: the wheel nuts and went out for a spin and as i was driven i remember that i hadnt tighted the nuts  plus the wheel lockin nut was still on the bolt, got back home safe thank god, check the nuts and they were very loose  and to top it off the lockin nut was gone.

so i was lookin out of the living room window as you do and i seen something on the road, so i went out and low and be hold it was the lockin nut  what a stroke of luck.

Already removed with various sized sockets and large hammer!!!!
The VW are so easy to remove, i reckon i can do them as quick with the socket and hammer as what i can with the key!

To be honest if you have some random sized sockets, like witworth etc then there is normally one in there that with fit nicely over any locking wheel nut, i've removed many different ones over the years, all different makes and budgets and never had any problems (before anyone asks i don't steel them).
