My insurers are Rossborough, who are just the Channel Islands branch of AXA I think. My parents aren't on the policy just me. I think it's because of the area being in risk zone A ie. the lowest risk place to live. Insurance is just generally cheap here, if a little inconsistent, my friend pays £1200 on a 1.4 MK4 golf which is in group 4!!  I guess i'm lucky we moved from Manchester before I started driving!

i'm paying £1200 on a mk3 1.4 M reg, fully comp without the rents..

My old M reg 1.8td escort was 1800 fully comp without the rents, so I added them on and it dropped down to £1300.

Admittedly I was obviously doing what the insurers hate - "fronting" - and it can null your insurance  if they have reason to believe you're driving it more than your rents.. seems they'd do anything to get out of it..

Insurance take the umbrella away when it rains, they want money for nothing

Fronting is when you have your parents as the main driver and you as the second when in reality you are the main driver. If you have yourself as the main driver and stick your parents as a second driver so they can drive it if they want, you are doing nothing wrong.

thats the situation i'm in at the moment.. i have my own policy in my name, mum, dad and sister as named drivers, for legit reasons, and my insurance on my mk2 8v gti went from £2000 to £1200..im 19 with 1 years no-claims, 2 fault claims and 3 points, bargin if you ask me...Admiral all the way!

Young drivers should go lv insurance.. .for example I am quoted 1600 on a brand new civic type r on my 19th bday with 1 years no claims with me as main driver and my dad as named driver. Comprehensive ofc and no scams.
