GTI Insurance groups
« on: 21 December 2006, 16:02 »
Right, a while ago i was asked to see if i could come up with i list of the insurance groups for all the different models of golf gti (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=51190.0) as it may be usefull to prospective buyers etc!

Now this list is based on the groupings of one of our major underwriters at HIC and is by no means the same across the whole insurance market. It could also be subject to change. It is also worth pointing out that at HIC we rate vehicles from grp 1-50 rather than 1-20 but it should still give you an idea (eg HIC grp 25 about the same as grp 10 on the normal scale).

People should bare in mind there are many other factors to account for eg age of vehicle, value etc and we even give target vehicle discounts for certain models so dont assume if its a lower group then it will be cheaper all of the time!

Anyway here goes:

                                                              tpft             comp

(not sure whether those for the mk5 where correct or whether that particular underwriter just didnt want to cover them - the mk5 gti t 200 came up as a 17 with one of our others who use grps 1-20)

thats all i could remember, let me know if i have missed any, hope its helpfull!

Think this is worth re-visiting as a topic.

Think this is worth re-visiting as a topic.

It is and it isn't, insurance groups are there as a rough guide and will vary from insurer to insurer.
