Insurance (19 years old)

hi there, just wondering where other youn drivers get there insurance?
i have a golf mk3, 1.4 L and its a golf "L" dont know what the l stands for.


anyway onto the insurance, i have been looking around and the cheapest i can get is 2200 on my own policy with my parents named drivers, is this normal?
i have been driving on and off since i had my license and since i have bought my own car now i want to get insured, any help is appreciated !  :nerd:

I'm 19 and I can get £2000 with a mk2 1.8 valver (1yr no claims) so you should be able to find it cheaper somewhere.

I went with Barclays for my first year only because they were the cheapest (Around 2800 but that is with a 1.8 gti).

try hic ? there in the insurance section, saved me over £500 on my renewal so worth a punt  :wink:

is it worth trying for classic insurance aswell?

HIC (iirc) won't insure anyone under 25.

Do not insure your car as your parents as the policy holder, with you being the main driver of the car. You'll be breaking the law.

Do not insure your car as your parents as the policy holder, with you being the main driver of the car. You'll be breaking the law.

It's called 'fronting' and is fraud, if you crash (or are crashed into) the insurance companies will do ANYTHING to prove it and void your insurance and possibly even fine you.

It's better to put yourself as the main driver and them as named drivers.
