Mk8 Gtd
« on: 26 June 2019, 21:58 »
Hey, hows it going?

Got a new job recently with a lot more of a commute. Thinking I may have to go diesel. First choice would be a Golf Gtd. Does anyone know if VW will be making a Mk8 Gtd? Cheers

Other than VW, I don’t think anyone knows yet if there’ll be a mk8 GTD.

There’s a thread just started over on seatcupra.net on whether or not the forthcoming new Leon will have a powerful diesel engine in its line up. Initial opinions vary from ‘diesel is dead’ to the possibility of a hybrid diesel.

The government do seem to see diesel cars as a bit of a money earner these days, so there could be increased tax implications for diesel car owners / users in future. Also, with the introduction of clean air zones, this could also mean additional penalties being imposed on diesel vehicles, although this would probably be primarily older, ‘dirty’ diesels.

How much cash will you save in fuel compared to shelling out £££s to change the car?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I actually wrote by Golf off last year so been rolling in a 2018 Skoda Octavia VRS Combi TSi for the past year. Ive decided to get a Golf again, but thought perhaps I’d be sensible to go diesel. Just been weighing up the pros and cons. Although perhaps I’d be better off on all fronts other than mpg with the Mk8 Gti!

I'm sure I have read that there will be a GTD...

I'm tossing up whether to have another (my third) or to get a GTI...

25% on my fuel bill for the pleasure of not driving an oil burner... and causing more CO2 pollution.

For high mileage use, I'm not convinced that choosing a non-oil burner actually makes much sense - especially as the latest engines are actually cleaner than petrol!
